DIY Candy Bracelet Valentines

I love all of the pink and red candy that comes out this time of year, and while walking down the Valentine's aisle I had the idea of turning the candy into a cute candy bracelet that can either be made and eaten, or made and given away as a Valentine (or both!).

I made a few bracelets, and I love the way they turned out!  They are seriously easy to make, and your kids would LOVE to help you with this one ;)

Supplies:

  • Candy- I used cinnamon hearts, pink & red jelly beans, pink & red saltwater taffy, and licorice that I cut into small pieces
  • Needle
  • Dental floss
  • Ribbon & glue gun (Optional- I used this for the saltwater taffy bracelet)
Directions:

1.  Cut a piece of dental floss to the length that you need to go around a child's wrist, plus add a few extra inches (for the knot and to tie it together at the end).  Thread a needle with the dental floss, and tie a knot at the end of the floss.

2. Carefully poke your needle through the candy.  Continue stringing the candy until it is the desired length of your bracelet.  The licorice is especially easy because it already has a hole through the middle.  Tie a knot in the end and let your favorite little friend try it on and have a bite!

I found these cute stickers for $1 at Walmart, and I thought that they looked like little charms that would be perfect for these bracelets.   I did was cut around the sticker with scissors, leaving the back plastic on, and poked two small holes in the sticker.  Then I strung on the charm/sticker, just like I did the candy.  Love it!

I also made some bracelets out of saltwater taffy, but those are too hard and messy to use a needle with. Imagine trying to unwrap and eat a piece of taffy with a string going through it- not pretty.  So here's a much easier solution...

I just took a piece of ribbon, hot glued the taffy onto it, and I was done in under 2 minutes!  Just tie a knot to secure the bracelet.

So are you going to make some of these with your little ones?  Or for yourself? ;)  I hope you do!!

And if candy is not your thing, check out these Cinnamon Scented Glitter Play Dough Valentines!
