Back when I was young, I remember my dad making us delicious chocolate breakfast smoothies before we left for school. He would use Carnation Instant Breakfast packets as the base, then add a banana and some peanut butter to make an ice cold chocolate drink for us that became an instant hit.
Today I’m all grown up, and I’ve been making this same chocolate banana peanut butter smoothie drink for my kids. They just can’t get enough!
The recipe is really simple and easy to throw together, which is perfect if your family is anything like mine. We are constantly rushing to get everyone ready for school in the morning AND get the kids a healthy breakfast on the way out the door. I need something that I can make in under five minutes, and this smoothie fits the bill perfectly!
The secret is using Carnation Breakfast Essentials Powder, which I bought at Walmart. It has 21 vitamins and minerals, 13 grams of protein, and as much calcium as a 6 oz. cup of yogurt! Carnation breakfast Essentials Powder tastes great, and comes in lots of different flavors, like Rich Milk Chocolate, Classic French Vanilla, Classic Chocolate Malt, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry Sensation, and the Variety Pack.
Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie
(Makes 2 large glasses)
2 cups milk
1 banana (preferably frozen)
1/2 cup Carnation Breakfast Essentials, Rich Milk Chocolate flavor
1 Tbsp. peanut butter
3 cups ice
Blend all the ingredients together in a blender and enjoy!
This recipe is so easy to customize! If you want more chocolate flavor, add more Carnation Breakfast Essentials! I like a subtle peanut butter taste, but if you want more of a peanut butter flavor, then add more. I love tons of ice as well because I like my smoothies thick and ice cold, but you could use less too. Make it your own!
I’m not going to lie, I made two big batches of this chocolate banana peanut butter smoothie yesterday. The temperature got up to 104 degrees yesterday, and this drink was a delicious and refreshing way for us to cool down!
