My kids haven’t started school yet, so we have been busy enjoying the last few days of our carefree summer. I thought it would be fun to make some small back to school teacher gifts for my kids’ teachers for the first day of school, just a cute little something to say that we are excited to have them as a new teacher.
I taught elementary school for a while before starting this blog, and I’ll be honest, besides the sweet letters and pictures from students, the next best teacher gifts are gift cards. I know that all my teacher friends would approve of Jamba juice gift cards, so I bought a few, and decided to make some cute gift boxes to hold the back to school teacher gifts.
First I made a “Sizzix sandwich” by stacking an extended cutting pad, the bag die cutting side up, my cut patterned paper, and then the other extended cutting pad on top. I ran it all through my Big Shot, and ended up with three pieces- the main bag piece, and then two smaller pieces for the sides.
I folded all the pieces along the lines made by the die, and then glued the side tabs onto the bag. Easy!
DCWV recently spoiled me with lots of adorable patterned paper pads, including some that I’ve had my eye on for a long time. I’ve been in paper heaven recently, I’m not going to lie!
I cut a piece of chalkboard cardstock that I just love from DCWV’s Sunshine Stack to make a small chalkboard. I cut a long thin piece out of a paper ruler ( from the same paper stack), and then glued it onto the base of the chalkboard. Next I cut the cutest little apple out of more patterned paper, and glued it on.
To add some prettiness to the top of the box, I used Tim Holtz’s Bow-Tied die to make a cute little red bow with tiny white polka dots.
I added a little paper shred, the Jamba Juice gift card, and closed the top of the bag by slipping the tab into the hole. Nice and easy!
Do you do anything for your child’s teachers for the first day of school? Leave me a comment and let me know! I know from my analytics I have lots of readers, so I’d love to hear from you!
