If you love football, then I’m sure you know that the Big Game is coming soon! If you love to throw football watch parties, but need an activity to keep those kids entertained, then this DIY football toss game is just what you need!
Not only is the DIY football toss game I’m sharing with you today really fun, it’s also very easy to put together, is inexpensive to make, and also incorporates a snack for the kids.
Kids take turns tossing Goldfish® crackers into two different holes on a piece of foam board decorated to look like a football field. Really, anyone can do this! Right now you can save 10% on Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish crackers bulk sizes at Target with a Cartwheel digital coupon. Score!
DIY Football Toss Game
- Foam board (You can use any large size)
- Green spray paint
- White number stickers
- White electrical tape
- Craft knife
- Goldfish crackers (I used Goldfish Cheddar 30 oz. Carton)
Step 1. Trace two circles onto your foam board. Make sure they’re evenly spaced and centered. Tracing around two of my metal mixing bowls worked perfectly! Use a craft knife to cut all the way through the foam around your pencil lines.
Step 2. Remove the cut circle portions. Spray paint the entire front of the foam board green. Use multiple thin coats of spray paint to cover the surface evenly. Let dry completely.
Step 3. You’ll be making 5 “field markings” on your board for the 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 yard lines along each side. Measure your board and evenly space out those 5 lines and mark them lightly with a pencil. Adhere a piece of white electrical tape a few inches long onto the board to make each of the yard lines.
Step 4. Now it’s time to add the numbers. Starting with the 10 yard line at the top, place the 1 to the left of the top piece of tape, then the 0 to the top right of the piece of tape.
Repeat this until you’ve filled in all the field marking numbers on both sides.
Step 5. I used three stacked cans behind the board on each side to hold it up. Place a paper plate or some foil behind the board to catch the Goldfish crackers as they are tossed through the holes.
Now comes the fun part- playing the game! Kids will take turns throwing Goldfish crackers through the two holes. For younger kids they can count each Goldfish cracker as a point and try to get as many points as they can.
Older kids can keep score by counting 3 points if they make a field goal through the larger hole at the bottom, or 7 points if they make a touchdown through the smaller hole at the top.
Either way, you and your kids will score big during the football game with this DIY football toss game! It’s a great way for the kids to have fun during the game too, all while eating a tasty snack.
Mom and dad can even play too! Challenge your child and see how many Goldfish crackers they can get through the holes.
Goldfish crackers offer a wholesome snack solution that kids love. After all, they’re The Snack That Smiles Back®! Be sure to take advantage of the Cartwheel offer, where you can save 10% on the bulk size Goldfish crackers and be ready for the big game!
And now this year the kids have as much to look forward to as the adults with their new DIY football toss game. 😉
