Thanks for stopping by! Today I’m sharing a pretty swan decoration for the Sizzix Christmas in July. Keep reading for the tutorial and the chance to win a Big Shot Plus AND the Sizzix tools used to make all of the projects from my projects as well as those from the other Sizzix design team participants. SUCH a great prize!!
I have a few gorgeous mercury glass stands with a glass cloche top that I love to pull out and decorate for the holidays. I decided to make a pretty swan paper decoration that could go on the glass top of my stand to decorate it for Christmas.
You could also make this swan decoration with a piece of ribbon at the top and use it as a Christmas tree ornament too!
To make this swan decoration, I first die cut a swan out of white card stock using the Swan & Leafy Frame Sizzix Sizzlits Die. To do this I made a Sizzix sandwich with the Magnetic Platform on the bottom, then a cutting pad, the white card stock, the swan die, and then the other cutting pad. I rolled it all through my Big Shot machine to get the pretty paper swan.
I repeated the process with the pretty oval leaf frame that came in the die set, but this time I used a metallic silver paper.
I die cut a few white flowers using the Sizzix Sizzlits Winter Florals Die. To make the flowers more interesting, I covered a flower one at a time with a light layer of glue, then sprinkled clear glitter, light blue glitter, and blue glitter on each flower. I also used a big irridescent glitter on the swan and the swan wing, then let all the pieces dry completely.
Using the leafy frame as a guide, I cut an oval shape out of a light blue piece of pattern paper that matched the flowers. I glued the silver leaf frame onto the oval paper, and then glued the flowers down to the bottom right of the frame. I used a few pop dots to add some dimension behind some the elements as well.
Lastly, I glue the swan to the middle of the leaf frame.
I love how this pretty swan Christmas decoration turned out! It is so sparkly and light, and will look beautiful at Christmas time with the Christmas lights reflecting off the sparkly glitter.
