My two youngest kids both have birthdays in the same month, which means a lot of fun but a lot of stress for this party planning mama. I’ve got a pirate party I’m starting to plan for my two little mateys, and I just made my first craft/project for the party that I wanted to share with you… some super cute DIY pirate straws that are a cinch to make!
I pulled out my Sizzix Big Shot and the Sizzix Movers & Shapers Mini Bat and Skull Set by Tim Holtz to make these cute pirate ship sail straws. I love the cute little skull and crossbones!
To cut the mini skull, I made a Sizzix sandwich with a Sizzix Base Tray on the bottom, the magnetic Skull die on the magnetic base tray cutting side up, some white paper over the die, and a cutting on top.
I rolled it through my Big Shot, and ended up with my cut skulls. I whipped up a bunch of skulls to use at the party.
Once I had my skulls, I free cut some pirate ship sails out of black cardstock, then glued the skulls onto the sails.
Next I used my glue gun and placed a small dot of glue towards the top of the straw, and then stuck the pirate sail over the glue and pressed down.
Simple, right? And so cute! I told you these DIY pirate straws were easy!
I can’t wait to get started working on more of the party. I love all things pirate and treasure, and am using Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride as my inspiration. I’ll definitely be sharing more of the details with you soon!
Happy crafting!
