Today I’m so excited to be part of the Festive Blog Hop with Sizzix!
A few of the Sizzix design team members here in the U.S. and in the U.K. are sharing some festive crafting ideas with Jen Long’s new set of dies.
I love decorating my Christmas tree each year with my family, so I decided to make two different ornaments with the dies. First up is an ornament shape that I die cut from gold and red glitter paper using some of the Ornament & Happy Holidays die set and my Big Shot. I love the shape of the ornament and the sparkle of the glitter on the paper.
To die cut the ornament, I made a Sizzix sandwich with the Magnetic Platform on the bottom, a cutting pad, the glitter paper, my die (with the cutting edge facing down), and another cutting pad on top. I rolled it through my Big Shot and had my two ornament shapes. I also used a pice of white glitter paper to die cut the words “Happy Holidays.”
I glued all of the pieces down, then finished the ornament off with a die cut piece of greenery from the same Ornament & Happy Holidays set and a red poinsettia. I tied a small jingle bell at the top of the ornament for fun. I love the sound it makes!
The second ornament I made was a 3-D Christmas tree made from the Christmas Tree Box die. It was so easy to put together! I die cut three of the tree pieces and the bottom triangle piece, adhered the flaps on the bottoms of the trees to the triangle on the bottom, glued the bottom sides of the tree, then tied a piece of Baker’s twine to the top.
I die cut some small poinsettia flowers from the Ornament & Happy Holidays die set out of red glitter paper to finish off the tree. Now it’s already for hanging! Our tree isn’t up quite yet because we’re painting our living room and dining room, as well as refinishing our fireplace. I’m so anxious to get our home projects completed so I can pull out our beloved decorations, hang the stockings, and decorate our tree.
This is absolutely my favorite time of the year, and I can’t wait to enjoy all of the excitement of the month with family and friends.
