I love those sweet little paper cones that you see filled with colorful candy. Today I’m sharing an easy DIY with you to show you how to make candy cones!
Candy cones are a so pretty, are an easy way to give candy, and are much easier to make than they look! The best part is that you can easily customize them to fit your party theme or colors. Ready to get started?
HOW TO MAKE CANDY CONES:
- Martha Stewart Crafts Circle Edge Punch Starter Kit (Optional)
- Cardstock or pattern paper
- Small candy
Step 1. Follow the directions that came with the circle edge punch to create a paper doily. You can choose any size between 6-12 inches to make your doily with this set. I chose to make mine all 11 inches.
The doily top makes these paper cones look amazing, but if you don’t want to buy the edge punch kit you could also just trace along the top of a large bowl and cut a circle that way too.
Step 2. Cut your doily into thirds, just like if you were slicing a pie into 3 large pieces.
Step 3. Roll the doily piece into a cone so the pointy part is on the bottom and the doily design is at the top. Overlap the edges a bit, then apply some quick dry glue to one edge. Adhere both sides together, and hold for about 10 seconds to allow the glue to dry.
Step 4. Fill the doily with small candy or toys. I filled my cones with Sixlets, which were the perfect size and come in tons of fun colors!
If you want to punch a hole in each side along the top, you can put a ribbon through, tie knots, and have a handle on them to hang.
Now that you know how to make candy cones, what colors and patterns are you anxious to try? Since you can get 3 doily cones out of just one large doily, the process goes pretty quickly.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how to make candy cones. Happy crafting!
