While it doesn’t snow much here in SoCal, I still dream of a white Christmas each year. This year I decided to stop dreaming and get busy crafting to make my own snowflake hanging decorations!
These snowflakes are sparkly and pretty like their natural look alikes but won’t freeze my hands, which I consider to be a big bonus. 😉
Snowflake Hanging Decorations
Supplies:
- White card stock paper
- Cutting machine or scissors
- Scotch® Create Wrinkle-Free Craft Glue Sticks
- Iridescent glitter
- Glue gun
- Clear fishing line
- Scotch® Wall-Safe Tape
STEP 1. First you will need to cut some snowflakes. I used my cutting machine to cut mine, but you can definitely make these the old-fashioned way with scissors too.
STEP 2. Rub a Scotch® Create Wrinkle-Free Craft Glue Stick on a snowflake, then sprinkle some iridescent glitter over the top. Shake off the excess glitter onto a piece of paper, then repeat for each snowflake.
It’s up to you whether you want to glitter the back of the snowflake or not. When you’re done with the glitter, make a funnel out of the piece of paper and pour the excess glitter back into your glitter bottle because it would be a shame to waste glitter, right?

I picked up my Scotch™ Brand products at Walmart in the paper crafting aisle.
Make a funnel out of the piece of paper and pour the excess glitter back into your glitter bottle.
STEP 3. Arrange your snowflakes in rows and in the order that you would like them to hang. Use your glue gun to add a few small drops of hot glue down the middle of the back of a snowflake, then carefully press the fishing line over the dots to adhere it to the paper. Be careful not to touch the hot glue! Repeat for all of the strings of snowflakes.
STEP 4. Now it’s time to display your sparkly snowflake hanging decorations! I wanted mine to hang from the ceiling, so I used the new Scotch® Wall-Safe Tape to attach the top of each snowflake strand to the ceiling. The tape held them perfectly and didn’t peel off any tape. This is a big deal for me since we just painted this room last week!
I’m in love with how pretty these snowflakes are. The glitter makes them sparkle and shine like real snowflakes, and this is such an easy and inexpensive way to decorate for the holidays. I already had paper, glitter, and fishing line at home, so this holiday decoration cost just a few dollars. Score!
Just switch out the snowflakes for another shape (like hearts for Valentine’s Day, decorated eggs for Easter, four leaf clovers for St. Patrick’s Day, etc.) and you’ve got almost instant decorations that are perfect year-round!
