In this summer heat, I find that I am constantly thirsty and craving ice cold drinks to keep me cool. I have been loving drinking refreshing smoothies, and recently revamped my orange julius recipe that I shared with you last year to make a yummy strawberry orange julius.
It’s still just as delicious, but with a couple easy tweaks, it now contains more calcium and no added sugar. Woo hoo!
Oh, and it’s also dairy free, gluten free, and soy free, so if there are any of these allergies in your family, this smoothie is perfect for you!
Instead of using regular dairy milk, this recipe contains new Silk Blends®, which is a blend of two delicious drinks… Silk Almond Milk® and Silk Coconut Milk®! I’ve been buying and using Silk Almond Milk in my smoothies, so I was anxious to try the new Silk Blends.
I LOVE the taste! The nutty almond milk flavor tastes great with the coconut flavor. I like to drink the Silk Blends® plain, like I would a glass of milk, as well as eat it in a bowl with my morning cereal, or mix it in a smoothie.
Strawberry Orange Julius:
- 1/2 can orange juice concentrate
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup Silk Blends®
- 1 cup frozen (or fresh) strawberries
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 10-12 ice cubes
Blend all the ingredients together in a blender, and pour into glasses to serve.
My kids love this recipe, and beg me to make more any time I make it for them. I love it too!
