Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this Oscars Party Candy Buffet Post as part of their Movie Lovers Sweepstakes. As always, all opinions and ideas are 100% my own.
Are you ready for the Oscars? In just under two weeks, the biggest stars will be making an appearance in the hopes of winning the coveted award. I created a delicious candy buffet for my family and I to snack on while watching the Oscars, and I’m so excited to share all of the details with you! I really love how it all turned out.
Just about everything I needed for my Oscars party candy buffet came from World Market. I’m sure you already know by now how much I love World Market! They sell the cutest things at amazing prices, and have tons of great choices for entertaining.
I wanted my Oscars party candy buffet to have an old Hollywood movie type feel, so I went with the classic red, black, and gold colors. To make my table stand out and look special, I hung a large piece of black fabric onto a PVC backdrop that I made and use for my parties. I bought two long pieces of gorgeous red velvet fabric that I hung on either side of the table that look just like the classic red movie curtains.
The glittery gold sequins fabric I bought was just perfect as a tablecloth, and really added some glitz and glamour to my candy table. I’m not going to lie, it was an expensive splurge, but I know that I will use it a lot in the future, so it was definitely worth it to me!
An important thing when setting up a candy buffet is to think about height to make it more interesting and to add some variety. I used my vintage picnic basket to add some height to the center of the table by simply placing it underneath the tablecloth. Then I added my gold popcorn Oscars centerpiece (tutorial here) to the middle of the basket,.
Next to my centerpiece I filled two glass containers filled Boston Baked Beans and Junior Mints, all from World Market. The glass containers are actually small vases, but they are the perfect size for filling with candy too, and are food-safe since they are glass.
To make the glass containers and some of the apothecary jars more interesting, I simply took some gold washi tape and wrapped it around the jar. It literally took me about two minutes to wrap around the jars, but it adds a lot to the table and the colors of the buffet. I also added some cute star picks that I found to two of the bowls of candy to add to the whole Hollywood theme.
Another element that I love are the red ostrich feathers. I bought a handful of them, and simply taped them to the back of some of the containers and jars for some added glamour. I love the effect! It’s amazing to me how adding such a simple element to the table can make it look so good!
I use my World Market apothecary jars at just about every party or table I put together, and this one is no exception. If you’ve ever shopped for apothecary jars before you know that they can be very expensive, especially when you want to buy an entire set of them, but not at World Market! They are very reasonably priced, and they have a nice variety of sizes and shapes that I love. I filled up two of the small round apothecary jars with lemon drops and peach rings to stick with my gold/yellow, red, and black colors.
I also filled up my 12″ apothecary jars with red licorice and chocolate covered almonds… yum! World Market has lot of great candy to choose from, and many international choices too, which is a lot of fun.
Another World Market staple I use for my parties are the medium rimmed rectangular platters and the small rimmed rectangular platters. They are perfect for placing at the front of the table because they are so low, and are perfect for placing flat items on that wouldn’t work well in jar.
I found some awesome milk chocolate popcorn pop bars, which looked really fun since they had a tub of popcorn on the front. I thought that they just had popcorn inside of them, but the chocolate actually pops in your mouth, kind of like Pop Rocks! This chocolate is SO much fun to eat! After I shared a few squares with my kids, they kept begging non-stop for more. Imagine the torture of them watching me put together this table with no free samples until the very end. 😉
I filled another platter with Arnott’s Chocolate Biscuits, and another with movie theater boxes of Junior Mints and Boston Baked Beans from World Market. On the last tray I placed some small scoops to scoop out the candy.
I hope these tips inspire you to create your own candy buffet table for the Oscars, or for any occasion!
