Chocolate Strawberry Tart
The velvety smooth ganache creates a sweet rich base that goes perfectly with the ripe fresh strawberries and crunchy cookie crust.
It truly is a dessert made to impress!
One of the best things about this dessert, other than its phenomenal taste, is how fast and easy it is to make.
Maximum results with little effort?
Now that’s my kind of desert!
Chocolate and Strawberry Tart Ingredients
- 1 package Oreo cookies
- 6 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate (I used a 4 oz. bittersweet baking bar found in the baking aisle)
- 1 cup heavy cream
Making the Crust
Step 1. Use a food processor to crush the Oreo cookies. Add the melted butter, then mix again until smooth. Pour the cookie blend into a tart pan (I used rectangular), then press down firmly with your fingers to create the cookie crust. Place in the refrigerator.
Step 2. Place the chocolate chips and bittersweet chocolate (broken in pieces) in a bowl. Set aside.
Step 3. Pour the heavy cream into a small pan and heat on medium-low heat until very warm, but not boiling. Pour cream over chocolate and let sit for a minute or two. Stir until smooth.
If the chocolate doesn’t get completely smooth, create a double boiler and stir the chocolate until smooth. Don’t place the chocolate over direct heat because it will burn.
Step 4. Pour the chocolate ganache over the cookie crust and smooth out the top.
Gently press fresh strawberries on top, then let set in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
If serving the strawberry chocolate tart the same day, then it’s fine to add the strawberries to the top as described above.
If serving the strawberry chocolate tart the next day, then hold off on adding the fresh strawberries until shortly before serving.
The strawberries on top came from my local farmer’s market and were so fresh and delicious!
San Diego has some wonderful farmers markets that I love to visit. I’m so inspired by all the colorful locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh eggs, nuts, and meat.
