One of the quintessential summer treats are s’mores. Gooey, rich, and delicious, s’mores are a summer staple for camping, parties, outdoor evenings in the backyard, or just for fun!
I recently put together a fun rustic s’mores bar for my family and created some delicious turtle s’mores, and today I’m going to share it all with you!
When it’s summer, any day can be a s’mores day!, right? S’mores are quick and easy to make, and I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t love them.
If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen a photo of us swimming that I posted this past week (you can find me @makelifelovely). My sister’s family and my brother’s family have both been in town this week, and we all got together to have dinner, s’mores, and to swim. It was SO much fun!
I picked up our s’mores supplies at Walmart- a couple 6 packs of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares, and Kraft’s Jet Puffed Marshmallows.
I also picked up some Hershey’s Caramel Topping and some Planter’s Roasted Pecans for our turtle s’mores.
Setting up a gorgeous s’mores bar doesn’t have to be complicated.
I used a couple wood crates from my son’s Jungle Safari Birthday Party, a couple galvanized buckets from my Glamping adventure, and two wood slice platters from my Fall Party.
I turned the wood crates over and used them to hold the s’mores ingredients. I filled the larger galvanazied bucket with beach sand, then added skewer sticks with marshmallows on them into the sand. I filled the smaller galvanized bucket with marshamallows too.
One wood platter held the graham cracker squares, while the other wood platter held the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, the roasted pecans, and the Hershey’s Caramel topping.
Now for the turtle s’mores! While the marshmallows were roasting, we prepped the other ingredients so they were ready to go when the marshmallows were roasted. Although we roasted our marshmallows, you could also use the microwave, oven, or stove top to make s’mores too! The campfire is fun, but optional. 😉
I added a spoonful or two of the caramel to a graham cracker square.
Next I lined up some pecans on top of the caramel. On the other graham cracker square I added 6 rectangle squares of milk chocolate, because I like my squares extra chocolatey. 😉
Once the marshmallows were roasted, we added them to the ingredients we had just put together.
YUM!! Our Turtle S’mores tasted amazing! If you love chocolate turtles then you will LOVE these turtle s’mores.
We all had such a fun night sitting around the fire, catching up, roasting our marshmallows, and eating s’mores.
Now that you’ve seen the fun that we had with s’mores, what’s your favorite way to eat a s’more? Do you keep it simple or add some delicious toppings that I need to try?
