Today I’m excited to share a yummy spicy party mix recipe AND an easy gift idea with you! This holiday party recipe is perfect for your next get together, for a snack, or for gift giving. I’ve even included a FREE printable gift tag for sharing if you ‘d like to give to a friend.
This Spicy Party Mix recipe is nice because you can make it in the microwave, which means no waiting an hour for it to cook in the oven, which means you get to eat it faster! 😉 I adapted the original Chex mix recipe so that it is a spicy mix with lots of fun additions that are easy to switch up.
You can use ANY add-ins that you like, as long as you keep the proportions about the same. You’ll need 12 cups of dry ingredients, so if your family doesn’t like nuts but loves Goldfish, add 2 cups of Goldfish instead of one cup of Goldfish and one cup of nuts.
As long as you stick to 12 cups of dry ingredients, it will still taste amazing to you, and will be customized to you and your family’s preferences!
Spicy Party Mix:
- 3 cups Corn Chex
- 3 cups Rice Chex
- 1 cup Cheez-It crackers
- 1 cup Goldfish crackers
- 1 cup pita chips, sightly crushed
- 1 cup toasted corn (Corn Nuts)
- 1 cup mixed nuts
- 1 cup pretzels
- 6 Tbsp. melted butter
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce (any flavor)
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. season salt
Mix all of the dry ingredients (up to the pretzels) together in a large microwavable bowl.
Mix the melted butter, the Worcestershire sauce, the Tabasco sauce, the onion powder, the garlic powder, and the season salt all in a small bowl. Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and stir thoroughly.
I used the Tabasco Original Red sauce for this recipe, but you could also use the milder green Jalapeño flavor or the Chipotle flavor, and it would taste just as good! I love that Tabasco sauce is a great way to enhance flavor in recipes that I already use and love to add a little bit of heat and complexity to the dishes.
Place the large microwavable bowl with the dry mix inside in the microwave for 6 minutes, stopping after 2 minutes each time to stir the mixture.
Place the mixture in a layer on the counter on paper towels to cool.
Once cool, place in an airtight container or in jars for gifting. Or for delicious party food, just pour in a bowl at your next party and watch it disappear!
I created this free printable that you can add to a mason jar full of this Chex mix for an easy and yummy gift this Christmas. Simply print, cut, tie on, and give! Plus, you can use it for all your gift-giving needs this season. Enjoy!!
