Valentine’s Day XO Glitter Letters

This past weekend I was browsing through the craft store when I saw those plain, cardboard letters.  I wanted to make them into decorations for Valentine’s Day, so I bought an X and an O, and some….   glitter!!  I turned those plain boring letters into super sparkly shimmering shining holiday decor.  And you can easily make yourself some too!

Valentine's Day Glitter Letters
Supplies:
Directions:
1.  Apply a medium coat of Mod Podge to one side of one of your letters using your foam brush.  Sprinkle red glitter ALL OVER the Mod Podged area, and gently shake off the excess.

I glittered over this cool contraption I bought a few years ago, that collects the glitter, and then you pour the glitter back into the jar through a little spout.  Love…

2.   Repeat with every un-glittered area of each letter.  I did the tops and sides, let it dry, and then did the backs.  You want to make sure that it is completely dry before doing the back, otherwise you will rub off the glitter with your fingers.
3.  When the letters are all dry, you can go back and add a little more glue to any spots that look “patchy,” sprinkle some more glitter on top, and gently shake off the excess.
Now you have two pretty letters, but you need to seal the glitter on so that you don’t leave a sparkly trail wherever your letters go!
4.  Spray one coat of Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze (or any other clear glossy sealer) on all sides of the letters, front and sides first, let them dry, and then do the backs.  This will ensure that all of the glitter actually stays on your letters.  It dried so clear and shiny you wouldn’t even know it was on there!
I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did!  Happy glittering!!

You’re welcome, I love that you made this Jody! I bought one of those cute heart boxes, too, but haven’t gotten around to doing those yet. So many crafts so little time ;) Thanks for sharing!

I have two daughters and we are very crafty. Glitter is a staple in our house. LOVE the idea of sealing it with clear glossy spray! Now that will be a staple as well. Thank you!
