Judging by the reactions of the selfie I took with Lance Bass a few months ago and shared on Instagram, you guys are BIG *NSYNC fans. I’ve gotten a lot of questions about Lance Bass’ backyard makeover and how I was so lucky to do this. It was such an honor to help and then photograph Lance and his husband in his new updated backyard for a campaign with World Market!
I’m so so SO excited to finally be able to share some details with you and some beautiful photos of his finished backyard with an incredible view!
I’ve done a lot of work with World Market and they’re absolutely hands down one of my favorite companies to work with. I was asked by World Market to drive up to Los Angeles and help redo and style Lance Bass’ backyard to update it for summer.
I was also asked to be the photographer and coordinate a photo shoot with Lance in his new space. I’m still pinching myself because it all seems like a dream!!
When I arrived at his home in L.A., there were boxes of World Market accessories and furniture waiting to be opened, assembled, and styled. Lance and his husband chose their favorite World Market items to go in their space, and it was our job to put it all together and make it all look beautiful!
Which actually wasn’t too difficult (besides the hot California sun beating down on us) because of their gorgeous backyard. Their home is up in the Los Angeles hills and has an incredible view of the valley.
A gorgeous swimming pool, green bushes, and pretty flowers all made for a wonderful space that was a blank canvas for us to come and refresh their backyard and get it ready for summer with World Market outdoor furniture and accents!
One of the first spaces we created was this lovely seating area with a wicker chair, sofa, and table.
Bright pillows and a bold patterned rug in bright blues and greens mimicked the blue of the pool and greens of the bushes and trees and matched the space perfectly!
Isn’t it the perfect place to sit and unwind in the early evening after a long day?
Lance sure thinks so!
Lance and Michael already had a wood outdoor table that we decided to keep, along with a matching bench and four chairs.
To give the space more personality and color, we added one tropical and one bright green pillow to the chairs and hung some gorgeous metal lanterns from a wood beam above the table.
These lights are so beautiful, and reminded me of the lanterns I used to make over Lesley Nicol’s (Mrs. Patmore from Downton Abbey) backyard in Los Angeles too! You can see her lovely backyard makeover with World Market too in this post.
I’m such a HUGE Downton Abbey fan. To prove it, here are my first and second Downton Abbey tea party I put together while the show was still on.
A striped table runner, three candle holders, and ocean-inspired glasses, plates, and bowls finish off the table. World Market Italian sodas (my favorite!) are ready for drinking on a bright green tray, along with a couple glasses.
The last area we created was a lounging space with more colorful coordinating pillows and a white side table with a candleholder on top.
Underneath it all was a bold black and white striped rug that added a nice contrast.
I’m so pleased with how it all turned out! When Lance and Michael came outside to check out their new space they were both so happy and loved it all!
Next up was the photo shoot that I was in charge of. Not going to lie, bossing around and posing Lance Bass was a pretty surreal experience!
Lance even taught me a new selfie trick on my iPhone that I didn’t know and that he just recently learned.
Did I mention that they own the cutest dogs EVER? Lance was a very sweet guy and I’m so grateful for this incredible experience I had!
A big thank you to World Market for inviting me to help and photograph and a big thank you to Lance and Michael for letting us come into your home and update your beautiful outdoor space!
