Who’s already gearing up for the Super Bowl? While I like watching football, I definitely like football parties and eating football food more. Who’s with me? I recently made an easy and amazing bacon chili cheese dog recipe that I wanted to share with you today. It’s the perfect football food for kicking back and cheering on your team!
I made these bacon chili cheese dogs this week and my boys practically devoured them. The best part, besides, the taste, is that they’re a breeze to make with just a few simple ingredients.
You could even set up your own hot dog bar with lots of toppings for a football party too!
Bacon Chili Cheese Dog Recipe
Ingredients:
- Hot Dog
- Hot dog buns
- Chili
- Grated cheedar cheese
- Cooked bacon, chopped or crumbled into smaller pieces
- Chopped red onions (optional)
Step 1. Cook those hot dogs. Grilling always tastes best (plus they get those nice grill marks), but you can cook your hot dogs any way that you like.
Place the hot dogs in the buns. For extra credit, toast the buns so they are warm and have a little crispness to them. This will also help the hot dog hold up to the chili.
Step 2. Spoon some hot chili across the top of the hot dog, then sprinkle on some grated cheddar cheese.
Step 3. Add extra toppings of your choice. I love adding red onions and jalapenos to the top of mine to give it a nice kick.
Let everyone customize their own bacon chili cheese dog and you’ll have some happy guests!
I love how easy, simple, yet delicious these bacon chili cheese dogs are, which is a good thing when you want to be on the couch watching the game instead of in the kitchen fussing over a big meal.
My husband has even been taking the leftovers to work (with the ingredients seperated), then eating them for lunch. Score!
To make these bacon chili cheese dogs extra special, serve them up in cute football boxes. My friends at Oriental Trading sent me some amazing football supplies that went perfectly with our food!
My favorites are these football snack trays. They already have slots in them for holding drinks, popcorn, and candy!
I just made a couple cuts with scissors to make one big long slot, filled it with torilla chips, then added a hot dog ot each one. Isn’t it fun?!
Each snack tray was placed on a football tray I bought last year for an extra layer.
These football favor boxes have a handle and are perfect for holding treats and party favors. They also make great chip holders!
Be sure to check out all the fun football and Super Bowl supplies at Oriental Trading.
I folded the handles down inside the football box and filled it with chips. Just add salsa or nacho cheese for another tasty football food idea!
