Have you ever been to a Brazilian all you can eat restaurant and drank their Brazilian limeade? It is nothing short of amazing! So refreshing, tangy, and sweet, and oh so addicting!
I’ve been making Brazilian limeade for about a year now, once I discovered what the “secret” ingredient is that makes it creamy and kind of frothy and delicious… are you ready?!
It’s sweetened condensed milk! I know it sounds weird, but trust me, this drink is seriously delicious. One of the great things about this recipe is that it takes less than 5 minutes to make, because there’s NO juicing involved! You just throw sliced limes in the blender, peels and all, with the rest of the ingredients, without having to worry about squeezing or juicing.
Now that’s my kind of recipe! Like with any recipe, you can adapt this to your own personal taste. Like yours a little more tart? Add less sugar. Need more flavor? Add another lime. I came up with this recipe based on how me and my family like ours, but feel free to adapt any way that you like!
This recipe make about half of a two quart pitcher, so I usually make two batches for my family of six to share. Don’t do both batches together, because your blender will probably not be able to hold it all, especially if you use ice. Not that I know that from experience or anything 😉 Enjoy!
Brazilian Limeade:
- 2-3 medium-large limes (or 5 small limes), washed and quartered
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 cups water (cold preferably)
- 1 Tbsp. sweetened condensed milk
- ice (I use about 6, but this is to preference)
1. Add all ingredients to the blender, and pulse for literally 1-2 seconds, about 4 times. And yes, you are pulsing the peel. Do NOT mix more than this! If you mix it too much it becomes really bitter.
2. Place a strainer over your pitcher or a bowl, and dump the beverage through the strainer to remove any seeds and the remaining lime peels. Use a spoon to push down on the peels to remove the juice. Discard the peels and seeds. Stir and serve!
Make sure to drink this soon after making, I’d say within an hour. If you let it sit for too long, it starts tasting bitter. Trust me on that one, too!
Brazilian limeade is the perfect easy, refreshing, and delicious drink! Give it a try!
For another refreshing drink, try this strawberry limeade… it’s soooo good! And if you’re grilling this summer, this coconut macadamia mango crusted mahi mahi, grilled rosemary pita bread or some grilled corn, would be delicious with this as well!
