I’m sure by now you’ve noticed that I LOVE smoothies. They make the perfect breakfast or snack, and are a great way to add more protein and vitamins to your diet.
If you’re a smoothie lover like me, then you’re going to love the Carob Nut Banana Protein Smoothie recipe that I’m sharing with you today! It’s full of lean protein and tastes GREAT!
It uses dried carob powder, which can be found in the natural or health section of many grocery stores (I found mine at Whole Foods). Carob powder is similar to chocolate but has no caffeine, is naturally sweet, is low in fat, and is high in fiber. I first feel in love with carob as a child when my mom would buy carob covered peanuts from the health food store. They were so delicious!
This smoothie also uses AllWhites Egg Whites. These can be found in the grocery store in the refrigerated dairy section, and are a great source of lean protein that can be used in any recipe that calls for eggs. They are 100% liquid egg whites with no yolk, are naturally fat-free and cholesterol-free, and are very high in lean protein.
AllWhites Egg Whites are pasteurized, which makes them safe to add to smoothies, unlike raw eggs.
Carob Nut Banana Protein Smoothie
- 1/3 cup AllWhites Egg Whites
- 1 small banana, cut into pieces
- 1/4 cup skim milk
- 1 Tbsp. dried carob powder
- 2 Tbsp. reduced fat peanut butter
Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Cover and blend on medium speed until smooth. Serve immediately.
This recipe makes one serving, but can easily be doubled or tripled to make more, which I think you’re going to need to do if there are others around when you’re making this! You can find the original recipe and more nutritional information here.
Can you believe that this recipe has 24 grams of protein in it? This carob nut banana protein smoothie is such a tasty way to add more protein to your life. Healthy and delicious is definitely a recipe that I can stand behind!
