It’s that time of year when all of the Christmas decorations get taken down and put away.
It can be hard figuring out where to put it all and how to store it safely so it doesn’t get damaged.
Today I’m sharing some of my best Christmas decoration storage ideas with you!
Christmas Decoration Storage Ideas
Idea #1- Use what you’ve got
One of my favorite tips for creatively storing your Christmas decorations is to look around the house and use what you have.
Remember those apples you bought at Costco a few days ago?
Use the plastic container they came in for storing your large round Christmas tree ornaments!
They’re the perfect size, and are already made to keep the items inside safe.
You’re also reusing something that would otherwise go in the trash, so it’s a win-win!
Just stack each filled container on top of each other than place in a plastic storage container for safe keeping.
Idea #2 Reuse it
Most people buy eggs then throw the egg carton away.
But did you know that those egg cartons are the perfect container to store your smaller ornaments?
Small round Christmas tree bulbs fit well in the small cavities in the carton.
Just fill a plastic container with cartons of ornaments and your decorations will stay nice and safe for next year!
Idea #3 Keep out the moisture
Did you know that there is a very simple way to keep the moisture out of your decorations, tools, supplies, and more?
Just reuse those small silica gel packets that come inside practically everything that you buy.
They come inside your new shoes box, bottles of vitamins, and so much more.
Silica gel packs are great to keep and toss inside your containers to keep them in good shape.

Be sure to read all the comments readers have left on how they like to reuse their silica gel packs.
I’m so blown away by all of your great ideas!
Idea #4 Bag it up
This year Balsam Hill sent us a large storage bag to hold some of their topiaries and wreaths that I decorated with this year.
I was absolutely stunned when not only the two large topiaries and two wreaths fit in the bag, but our large artificial tree fit too!
This storage bag is so great because it’s so easy to put together (I did it all myself), is very sturdy and strong, has a zippered top to keep everything free from dust and dirt, and is huge!
It also has wheels on one end and small legs on the other, so it’s easy to transport.
I highly recommend this awesome bag to you!
I love that I was finally able to get rid of the cardboard box that our artificial tree came in.
Cardboard gets worn and can break easily, so this bag is just perfect for us!
Idea #5 Labeled plastic containers
If you were to walk into my shed or basement, you would see shelves filled with many large plastic containers.
Each box has a typed label on it, which makes it SO easy to find exactly what I’m looking for.
Pulling out the Christmas each year isn’t a hassle if you keep everything nice, neat and organized.
Clear plastic containers are great too because you can see exactly what’s inside, which can be helpful too.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these Christmas decoration storage ideas.
