I love going out to my mailbox in December and finding Christmas cards from friends and family both far and near.
It’s a great way to stay connected to loved ones who I haven’t seen for a while but have fond memories of.
During the holiday season, though, I’m not sure where to put these cherished cards or how to display them.
This year I came up with a solution- this easy 5 minutes DIY Christmas card holder!
When I say that his DIY Christmas card holder takes 5 minutes to make, I really mean it. The design and idea is simple, rustic, and can be customized to the size and quantity that you need.
I made two separate boards, but you could cut one long board or a few smaller boards depending on the space that you have and how tall and/or long that you want your finished board(s) to be.
5 Minutes DIY Christmas Card Holder
Supplies:
- Fence board (from Home Depot or Lowe’s for a few bucks)
- Saw
- Large binder clips
STEP 1. I bought some fence boards a while back and left them outside to get that weathered and worn look with no work! You can choose to do the same, or you can paint or stain your wood too. Cut the fence board to the length that you would like. Decide how many boards you will want.
You can choose to display your cards with the board going vertically up against a wall, or hang it horizontally across a wall. I chose the vertical way for me so I could easily set them up against a wall near my Christmas tree in my home.
STEP 2. Use the binder clips to attach Christmas cards as they arrive from friends and family. It just takes a second to do! If you do this as they come, too, then you won’t have piles of Christmas cards sitting around or extra clutter.
And that’s it! Now you can see your friends and family’s cards and remember all the fun times you had together. I love how simple and easy this DIY Christmas card holder is.
You can add vinyl words or Christmas designs to the top of the wood, add some pine clippings, pinecones, or berries, or even add some embellishments like small ornaments, candy canes, etc.
After the holiday season, I have a big 3-ring binder that we keep the photo cards in sheet protectors that we receive from family and friends. It’s fun to look back at Christmas cards from the past and reminisce about how everyone has changed over the years, share memories, and more.
Since it was earlier in the Christmas season when I wrote this, most of the cards you are seeing are from our Christmas cards binder from the past year or two. I’m so glad we started this tradition!
I hope you enjoyed this simple 5 minute DIY Christmas card holder. It’s a great way to keep your loved ones on your mind during this beautiful holiday season.
Happy holidays!
