DIY gold feather cupcakes toppers are a pretty way to dress up store-bought cupcakes, I recently made my own set of feather cupcake toppers and I’m in love with how they turned out!
Today I’m going to share with you how easy these feather cupcake toppers were to make, and how you can make your own set in just a few minutes. Feather cupcake toppers are a pretty way to decorate for a Boho Chic party or baby shower, or is prefect for using with other themes as well.
I used my trusty Sizzix Big Shot die cut machine to make these gold glitter feathers in practically no time using the Tim Holtz Writing Desk die, some skewer sticks, gold glitter paper, and some thin twine.
P.S. I just noticed that the Writing Desk die is no longer available to purchase, but you can buy the same feather die as part of the Mini Feather & Inkwell die set. The feather in this set is just about 2″ shorter, which is probably even better because the feathers I made are pretty big!
Feather Cupcake Toppers Instructions:
STEP 1. Make a Sizzix sandwich with a cutting pad, some gold glitter paper face up, the Writing Desk feather die cutting side down, and the other cutting pad on top. Roll it all through the Big Shot and remove the cut feather.
Repeat for as many feather cupcake toppers as you would like to make.
STEP 2. Use some thin twine or string to wrap the bottom of the feather to the top of a wood skewer stick so the feather is upside down.
Wrap the twine around a few times before tying a knot at the top. Cut off the extra twine with scissors.
STEP 3. Decide how tall you want your cupcake topper to be, then cut the extra off the bottom of the skewer stick.
Insert into cupcakes.
Aren’t they so pretty? I recently used made a whole set of these to go with some pretty pink cupcakes I used for an event for the girls at my church.
The girls were in LOVE with the feather cupcake toppers and asked if they could take the gold glitter feathers home with them. Success!!
Happy crafting!
