This time of the year my hands and skin are so dry, they need all the TLC they can get! I’ve got a great solution for you to help soften your dry winter skin and get it ready for the warmer months that are ahead.
Here are some tips to share with you that will help you get the spa treatment and luxury at home for a fraction of the price!
I made this DIY lemon and rosemary body scrub this weekend, and I loved it! The lemon and rosemary smell was so refreshing, and this scrub really couldn’t be easier to make!
Lemon and Rosemary Body Scrub:
2 cups of white sugar
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/8 cup rosemary essential oil
2 Tbsp. baking soda
Simple combinations of olive oil, fresh herbs (such as rosemary or basil), essential oils, and sugar or sea salt can easily create a very effective body scrub. Bananas may be mashed and combined with sea salt and citrus juice to make a luxurious body scrub that will leave your skin silky smooth and rejuvenated, just in time for spring!

I’m SO tight fisted when it comes to beauty products – I only own about 3 that I use for everything, so when I saw this, I made it within 5 minutes of finding the recipe as I’d just run out of exfoliator! It was lovely, but next time I think I will use a little less oil like you suggested because the oil kept separating from the mixture and floating to the top so I had to mix it with my fingers, which was annoying! Thank you somuch for the recipe though- it’s helped so much, and I not have skin like silk!

Yay for silky skin! So glad it worked for you! Yes, I like my scrubs a little drier as well, just a little oil next time and it will be perfect for you! You could always spoon some of the extra oil out as well.

hey laura, I am a stay at home mom who loves to try new things and this sounds awesome! Problem is i have no idea where to even begin looking for the rosemary essential oil or any essential oils for that matter. if you could point me in the right direction that would be great!
Laura @ Make Life Lovely says
Hi Amber, I bought my essential oils at my local health food store. Most health food stores carry a huge variety of essential oils, and you should be able to find them there. If not, you can always buy them online. Amazon carries them, as well as others. Good luck!

This looks amazing! Does it need to be refrigerated once it’s made or is it ok hanging out in the bathroom cabinet for awhile? Maybe weeks?
Laura @ Make Life Lovely says
Is should be fine hanging out in the bathroom cabinet for weeks! Have fun making this!

Change tour oils to 1/2 c coconut oil and
1/4 cup olive oil and 2 tablespoons vitamin e oil and 1 tablespoon flax seed oil or sweet almond oil. I also add poppy seeds sometimes for a little added texture.
Laura @ Make Life Lovely says
Great additions! I bet the poppy seeds were great in this, and you can never go wrong with coconut oil! Thanks so much for sharing your version!
