Hi there crafters! I recently wanted to make some cute paper candy corn, but I didn’t have a candy corn die, and didn’t really want to cut a bunch out from scratch.
So I came up with this super duper easy way of cutting paper candy corn using the standard Sizzix Framelits circle dies. If you don’t have these dies, not worries! You can even trace around the bottom of household items to make your circles, and cut those out.
Supplies:
- Orange, yellow, and white cardstock
- Sizzix Big Shot and Sizzix Framelits circle dies OR glasses and other round objects in various sizes (to trace)
- Adhesive
- Scissors
Directions:
First, cut a circle out of white paper, a slightly larger circle out of orange paper, and a slightly larger circle out of orange paper.
I did this using my Big Shot and circle dies, but you can just trace and cut using different sized cups or bottles for this part if you don’t have those.
If you use a Big Shot die cutting machine, you’ll make a sandwich out of the Extended Multipurpose Platform (with it closed completely), then a cutting pad, the paper, the circle die blade down, and then the other cutting pad. Roll it all through, then remove the the circle.
Glue the circles onto the top of each other so they are stacked and centered smallest at the top and largest at the bottom.
Cut the circle in half, then one of the half circles in half…
and then in half again.
Repeat for the entire circle, and you will have 8 candy corn pieces.
Next, round the three sharp edges of each candy corn to make the nice and smooth.
Easy, right? It’s cool because with just 3 little pieces of paper and no measuring, you get a handful of cute little candy corn, just waiting to be crafted with!
Now it’s your turn to get creative with these! What would you make with these candy corn?
Happy crafting!
