Colorful gum balls all in a rainbow row make my heart happy.  Today I’m sharing a super simple St. Patrick’s Day treat idea that is bright, cheery, and extra sugary!

St. Patrick's Day Rainbow Gum Ball Tubes

These cute gum ball treats are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face and can be customized however you like.

Supplies:

  • Plastic tubes
  • Gum balls (in various colors)
  • Card stock in rainbow colors
  • Sizzix Big Shot
  • Sizzix Thinlits Alphanumeric Die Set
  • Sizzix Magnetic Platform
  • Cutting pads
  • Sizzix Adhesive Sheet Pack
  • Paper piercer or other thin sharp tool
  • If you don’t have a Big Shot die cut machine, you could also make letters with any other die cutting machine OR just use store-bought letter stickers.  If you just buy the letters, then skip to step 3. 😉

Step 1.  Choose what you want your tubes to say, and pick out the metal Thinlits letters.  Cut a small piece of card stock in each color for your letters, peel the backing off of an adhesive sheet, and stick the card stock down onto the sticky side.  Cut with scissors around each card stock rectangle.

Step 2.  Make a Sizzix sandwich with the magnetic platform on the bottom, then a cutting pad, the paper, the letter dies, and the other cutting pad on top of that.  Roll it all through the Big Shot to cut the letters.  Use a paper piercer to push the letters out from the die if they don’t come right out.  Arrange the letters onto your tubes to spell out your desired word (s).

Step 3.  Fill each tube with gum balls.  I bought a big yard tube of gum balls at World Market.  You could do a rainbow pattern, a green and white pattern, all green, or whatever colors your little heart desires!  Put the lid on, and they are ready for giving!

You could also add a bow or some Baker’s twine to the top with a tag if you would like.  Rainbow ribbon would be really cute too!  Surprise someone with these cute treats for St. Patrick’s Day or any other holiday.  They’ll LOVE it!
