This Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them party post is sponsored by Netflix DVD. All ideas and opinions are 100% my own.
If you’re a Harry Potter fanatic like me, then you’ve no doubt seen the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie. To celebrate the release of the movie, I planned a magical Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them party that will take you back to the wizarding world, but this time in 1920’s New York City to follow along Newt Scamander on his trip to the city.
Hold on to your wands, grab a shot of giggle water, hide your gold and jewelry, and get ready for the magical adventure!
It just wouldn’t be a Fantastic Beasts party without Newt’s beloved and troublesome niffler, but good luck buying a niffler anywhere. Of course you know they’re illegal to breed in America, so I had to get creative and make my own DIY niffler. 😉
My daughter and I crafted this darling niffler from tin foil, Sculpey clay, some fur, eyes, and paint. It’s crazy what you can make with just a few supplies! I’ll post the tutorial for this DIY niffler soon.
If you’ve seen Fantastic Beasts, then you know that nifflers are attracted to anything valuable, especially gold coins and jewelry, so I surrounded my niffler with chocolate gold coins from Oriental Trading, and sprinkled more across the party table.
In his hands are an amazing Fantastic Beasts sugar cookie that I ordered from Baby Gabey Cookies. Keep reading to see the rest of these fabulous cookies!
The niffler is sitting inside Newt’s brown suitcase, which is a big part of the movie. Newt’s Hufflepuff scarf, New York City map, and passport are tucked inside the suitcase when he has it set to “Muggle Worthy,” just like the movie.
You might have even noticed a wand, which my uncle so kindly made me, knowing the huge Harry Potter fan that I am. He is an amazing wood turner and sells his wood bowls in art galleries and in his etsy shop.
Also inside the suitcase is a valuable occamy egg. You might remember from the movie that these are made out of pure silver, and become very helpful to one of the characters later.
One of my favorites from the movie is the sweet little green bowtruckle named Pickett. Pickett can be found in Newt’s front pocket throughout part of the movie, though he is right at home in the trees, where his twig-like body and leafy top blend right in.
These incredible Pickett bowtruckle cookies tasted just as good as they looked, and were made by Baby Gabey Cookies. She captured him perfectly!
You might recognize these lovely leaf cookies from our outdoor boho party with a teepee, lovely flowers, and more. It’s one of my absolute favorites!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, along with other magical books, were stacked by the cookies. Did you notice Newt’s bow tie along the top of the chalkboard sign? I couldn’t resist.
I got creative and made a large bowtruckle to add to the top of our chocolate cake. Green leaves were also placed on top and along the base of the cake.
Jacob’s bread, originally from his brown suitcase he took to the bank, are stacked up high inside this lovely glass dome, just waiting for his customers to devour.
And now for my FAVORITE part. These. Can you believe these are even cookies? They look more like little works of art to me!
Niffler and demiguise cookies made again by Baby Gabey Cookies sit atop a black cake stand, along with gold-dusted chocolate cookies and a deathly hallows cookie. I can’t get over the incredible detail on these cookies, from the demiguise’s eyes to the fur and hair on these magical creatures.
Did you notice the walls behind the Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them party table? They’re covered in wanted posters featuring Newt Scamander and his crew of Porpentina Goldstein, Queenie Goldstein, and Jacob Kowalski.
I also managed to steal a few leaflets from the New Salemers to use for the party. They’re terrified of all things “witch” and try to warn everyone that witches live among us.
Last but not least, I just couldn’t have a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them party without treating guests to some giggle water, just like Jacob drank. Guaranteed to make you laugh!
