Step 2. Color the balloons to your heart’s content with some Prismacolor Premier colored pencils or markers. These pencils are very soft and the color is really saturated. I kept my balloons one solid color, but there really is a LOT you can do with these pencils since they blend so beautifully.
There are a couple of benefits to coloring your own toppers. First, you can match the colors of the balloons to the exact colors of your party. Michaels carries tons of different colors that you can buy in various sets, or you can pick and match individual pencils that you like.
Second, it’s a great way to get creative, or to let your kids get creative! When my two youngest kids saw me coloring the balloons, they HAD to make their own too. My little guy’s colored balloon just melted my heart, and gave me the idea that these would be really cute for a child to color themselves for their OWN party.
Step 3. Cut out the colored balloons with a pair of scissors. Use a piece of clear tape to attach a lollipop stick to the back of the balloon.
Press then balloon sticks into your cupcakes and they’re ready to go! Aren’t they fun?
