Heyyyy yooouuuuu guuuuuuyyyys!  I’ve got a lot of fun Halloween ideas to share with you this month, and this Goonies Halloween party is definitely at the top of the list!

If you’re a child of the 80’s, then I’m sure you’ve seen Goonies at least 20 times.  It’s one of those movies on regular rotation at our house.  With all the pirates, skeletons, and adventure, I knew this movie would make for an amazing Goonies Halloween party!

Goonies Party for Halloween

So sit back, grab a tub of rocky road ice cream and a slice of pepperoni pizza, and get ready to party!

One VERY lucky person will also win a brand new CRICUT MAKER and a $75 ORIENTAL TRADING COMPANY gift card!!  Keep reading to enter this incredible giveaway!

Goonies Halloween Party

Any self-respecting Goonies party needs to have One-Eyed Willie present, so of course he took front and center at our Goonies Halloween party, eyepatch and all.

I actually made Willie’s eyepatch out of faux suede in just a couple of minutes with my new Cricut Maker.  It was amazingly easy, and looked great!  You can find the pirate eyepatch cut file here if you’d like to make one too.  If you need to adjust the size, then simply adjust and follow the prompts to cut your own!

After I cut the eyepatch I glued on a few diamonds like Willie had, then added a strap to the eyepatch.  Some red fabric and a pirate hat finished off Willie’s wardrobe for the party.

Behind our pirate friend I hung a large fishing net and two flags that I made with my Cricut Maker and EasyPress.  Keep reading for the simple pirate flag tutorial!

My vintage ship wheel my husband bought me a few years ago was just perfect for One-Eyed Willie.  Did you notice that he’s holding the map to his treasure?

Goonies Halloween party ideas. So many cool details from the Goonies movie!

If you’ve seen Goonies enough times, then you probably remember the big organ made out of bones that Andy had to play correctly to allow the Goonies to escape the Fratelli’s and find the treasure.  “If you hit the wrong note we’ll all “b flat,” joked Mikey.

I made a simpler version of the bones organ and placed it in One-Eyed Willie’s lap.  The bag of bones from Oriental Trading were just perfect for making the organ.  We drilled the bones onto a piece of scrap wood, then added some Spanish moss to the top like in the movie.

Underneath the bones organ sat a gold plate filled with pirate booty.

Goonies party pirate coins and treasure bags

Individual pirate bags filled with gold coins were on top, as was a big gold goblet filled with pirate lollipops.

Thirsty guests helped themselves to glasses of Mama Fratelli’s water.  “It’s wet, ain’t it?”

Did you notice the skull on the front of the wood box?  I had my Cricut Maker cut that quickly for me, then I stuck on the vinyl to make it look like it came straight off the pirate ship.

On top of the wood box sat another gold serving tray, along with the skull of the last person who tried to take off with Willie’s treasure.  Love how realistic the skull looks!

Everyone loves Data and all his homemade inventions and contraptions, so these “pinchers of pow” wind-up teeth were there for guests to help get them out of any slippery situation.

Some of One-Eyed Willie’s gold and treasure lay on a gold plate, along with one of his  former crew members who got a little greedy.

Goonies Halloween party Baby Ruth

Baaaaabyyyy Ruuuuutthhh.  Need I say more?  Sloth needs lots of these guys to fuel his inner pirate, so I made sure we had plenty of these on hand.  My beautiful gold stand from Amalfi Decor fit right in with the gold from the treasure and the pirate coins scattered on top!

I used so many awesome supplies from Oriental Trading for this Goonies party.  If you’d like to order from Oriental Trading, we’ll both get $10 off plus free shipping on $49 when you click on my referral link.  Score!

DIY Pirate Flags with Cricut EasyPress and Cricut Maker

Remember those cool flags I showed you?  I’m going to show you how easy they were to make!  I LOVE how simple it is to create party decor with my Cricut Maker and EasyPress machine.

If you’re confused about what a Cricut Maker is, then definitely check out this post to see all of the things that it can do (and why you need one in your life!).

The Cricut EasyPress is an amazing machine that gives you professional iron-on results in just seconds!  No more ironing, no more guessing as to whether or not your iron-on is done- this little machine does all the work for you!

Supplies:

  • Black material for the flag (I used two 100% polyester banners I already had)
  • White Cricut Iron-on
  • Cricut EasyPress

Directions:

Step 1.  Design your flag in Cricut Design Space.  You can use my skull and crossbones design and my “Goonies Never Say Die” design by clicking on each link.  Follow the prompts in Design Space to cut the designs using your Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore machine.

Make sure to cut the “mirror image” so your design isn’t backwards, and be sure to place the shiny side down when cutting iron-on.  Once the design is cut, remove the excess iron-on from the plastic, leaving just your design in place.

What is the Cricut EasyPress

Step 2.  Turn on the Cricut EasyPress machine to the setting required for your fabric.  Since my flags were 100% polyester, I set the machine to 285 degrees for 15 seconds.

How to use the Cricut EasyPress for Goonies Halloween party

Place the iron-on design down where you would like it on the fabric, then place the EasyPress over the iron-on.  Press the “C” button to start the timer, and press down on the machine in place until the timer beeps.  Once the machine beeps, remove it and place on another portion of the design until the entire thing has been adhered to the fabric.

Peel the plastic off the design after heating with Cricut EasyPress

Step 3.  Wait a minute for the design to cool before removing the plastic.  This is my favorite part!  After a minute, peel off the plastic layer to reveal your amazing design adhered perfectly to your flag!

I’m SO impressed with the Cricut EasyPress machine and how well it adheres the iron-on.  This skull and crossbones isn’t going anywhere!  This flag looks so amazing, like I bought it somewhere instead of spending just a few minutes making it myself.

I followed the exact same steps above to create the awesome “Goonies Never Say Die” banner too.

I hope you enjoyed our Goonies Halloween party as much as I enjoyed creating it!  Check out all the fun Halloween decorations, costumes, and candy that Oriental Trading has.  You can also find lots of cool pirate supplies too!
