A submarine voyage, sunken treasure, sharks, stingrays, and over 2,000 different types of real sea creatures. Sounds like an exotic trip in the middle of the ocean, doesn’t it? Actually, all of these are part of the new Lego City: Deep Sea Adventure Submarine Ride at LEGOLAND California!
We were excited to be invited by Legoland California to the grand opening and media event for the new ride. We were among the first to board one of 8 real 26′ long submarines and go underwater to discover thousands of real ocean animals.
It was so exciting to see black tip reef sharks, southern stingrays, cownose stingrays, blue-lines seaperch, big scale soldierfish, and foxface rabbit fish all from inside our submarine!
Throughout the ride we saw more than 25 LEGO models. The largest model, the shark whirlpool that is outside the ride, is more than 5 feet tall and is made out of more than 80,300 LEGO bricks!
The kids loved playing with all of the LEGO bricks under the massive shark while we waited in line.
A fun feature of the ride are the touch screens inside each portal in the submarine. Throughout the journey there are hidden treasures on both sides of the submarine. When treasure is spotted, guests tap the matching icon on the touchscreen so the LEGO dive team knows where to retrieve the treasure.
We loved that we could achieve three different levels at the end of the ride, all dependent on how much treasure we spotted during the voyage. It kept the kids engaged and on the lookout for the whole ride!
There are no height restrictions for the LEGO City: Deep Sea Adventure Submarine Ride, which was great because we could take our sweet baby girl on the ride with us.
We also were given a tour of the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, which was a lot of fun. The entire hotel was built with the needs of families in mind, and there are so many cool features created to keep kids engaged and entertained while staying there.
One of my favorites were the bunk beds for the kids in their own curtained-off room. Inside the room there were LEGO bricks to play with, along with a cool night sky scene that lights up at night with the switch of a button!
It was a wonderful day, and the kids are already planning out our next trip to LEGOLAND California! You definitely should check out the new ride and all the fun that the park has to offer.
