Ariel has always been one of my favorite Disney princesses. I love her strong will and determination. She is the inspiration behind our pretty Little Mermaid party that I’m excited to share with you today!
I wanted our Little Mermaid party to have an under the sea feel to it, so I used a gorgeous shimmery sequin fabric for the backdrop. On the table I layered a white tablecloth, a few layers of light blue tulle, then added a white net to the top. I love the soft effect of all the layers stacked together.
Over the table were lots of giant white and clear bubbles (aka balloons) that framed the party table.
The centerpiece was a gorgeous ombre blue ocean cake I made. Look at those lovely layers of color!
To top off the cake I added a few Ariel, King Triton, and Ursula toys that we had. Big white gumballs and shiny white chocolate balls reminded me of bubbles under the sea, so I added a few to the top of the cake.
Colorful and tasty macaroon oysters were stacked with Ursula keeping guard over them. If you’re lucky, you might get a macaroon oyster with an edible pearl inside!
Pretty teal cake pops with clear sprinkles on top were ready for hungry little mermaids and mermen to devour.
A variety of donuts were displayed with gold dinglehoppers in them for easy grabbing and serving. Just don’t brush your hair with them, like Ariel, before you eat. 😉
A party wouldn’t be a party without treats for the little ones to take home. I filled some cute plastic favor tubes with a variety of blue treats from Oriental Trading– jelly beans, sparkling white chocolate candies, and small gum pieces.
One of my very favorite parts of our Little Mermaid party was the mint trunk filled with some of Ariel’s treasures from the human world. A gold statue of humans, a gold vase, glass, and more dinglehoppers and silverware.
To create Ariel’s “treasures” from her cave, I took a trip to the thrift store and picked out a few items that she had in the movie. After a layer or two of gold spray paint, these treasures were truly magnificent and fit for a princess!
My favorite has to be this gold statue. It wasn’t so pretty before the gold spray paint.
My good friends at LEGO sent us a wonderful new LEGO set for my little princess to enjoy. It’s the new Disney Ariel and the Magical Spell set, and my daughter can’t get enough of it!
With the set you get to build Ariel’s cave, Ursula’s grotto, and transform Ariel from a mermaid into a human by placing her on the revolving stand so she can transform. There are so many cool details in this set!
Ariel’s cave has a cool sliding door that opens, along with a clamshell seat, a ship’s wheel that turns, a treasure chest, and more!
Ursula’s grotto has a little tube of lipstick like from the movie, a crystal globe to hold Ariel’s voice, crystals, coins, potion bottles, and more.
Ariel comes with a fin and legs that you can switch when she turns from a mermaid into a human. LEGO truly thought of everything with this set!
If you love everything under the sea like me, then you’ll love these ocean-inspired parties, recipes, and crafts-
