If you’re an ocean-loving girl like me, then you’ll love these mermaid party favors I recently made for my daughter’s mermaid birthday party last week. She and I are both infatuated with anything from under the sea, and I wanted to share these sweet little mermaid party favors gift bags that we made for her and her friends.
Party favors are an essential for me, and I usually try to make my own instead of buying cheap plastic toys at the store. The girls absolutely LOVED the bags and the cute necklaces inside that I made that I’ll share with you soon!
To make the mermaid party favors, I started off with some little white gift bags that I spotted at the dollar store. 12 bags for $1? Yes please!
My daughter helped me open up the bags, then I used my Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine to die cut sparkly pink and purple seaweed with the Seaweed, Coral, and Wave dies.
I glued the glittery seaweed onto the front of the bags, then used the seahorse die from the Mini Sand & Sea set to cut out some seahorses from mat board. I used gold spray paint that I was using for another project to paint the seahorses, then glued those on the front too.
Each small bag was filled with paper shreds, and then the necklaces I made for the girls on top of that. I used a sparkly tulle fabric to tie each bag closed. The more shimmer and sparkle the better, right?
I can’t wait to share all the rest of the mermaid party details with you! Until then, here’s a sneak peek of the sugar cookies I made. It’s my third time making them, and I feel like I’m getting better and better each time. I’m so pleased with how they turned out!
This party was so much fun to plan, and it truly makes it worth the all the time and effort planning it to see my daughter and her friends squeal with delight when they saw everything at the party. I know she’ll remember this party for years and years, which makes it all worth it.
Have a great week!
