Everything is cuter in miniature, which is I can’t get enough of these mini party hats. I mean seriously, how cute are these?!
There are about a trillion things that you can do with these mini party hats, and I plan on doing every single one! They’re a breeze to make, can be made in three different sizes, and can be customized to any color and pattern combination that you like.
Today I’m sharing with you how to make these mini party hats and turn them into mini party hats headbands.
How to Make Mini Party Hats
Supplies:
- Sizzix Big Shot
- Sizzix Party Hats die set
- Cutting pads
- Magnetic Platform
- Colored paper
- Glue gun
- Pom-poms and tissue paper (optional)
Directions:
STEP 1. Make a Sizzix sandwich with a cutting pad on the bottom, the Magnetic Platform, colored paper, the party hat die, and another cutting pad on top. Roll it all through the Big Shot and remove from the die cut.
STEP 2. Add some hot glue to the tab and roll the other side of the die cut onto the glue to make a mini party hat.
STEP 3. Now it’s time to get creative! I hot glued a pom-pom onto the tops of each of my party hats, then added a shredded tissue paper piece along the bottom that I just love.
To make the tissue paper base, fold a thin line with 4 pieces of tissue stacked on each other. Use fringe scissors or regular scissors to cut thin strips into 3/4 of the tissue paper on the side that IS NOT folded.
Make a thin line of hot glue along the base of your hat, then stick the tissue paper along the bottom of the hat with the folded side down. Use your fingers to fluff up the fringed tissue paper, and you’ll have your own festive mini party hat!
You CAN stop at one, but if you’re like me, you’ll want to make a set of these in all different colors, shapes, and sizes. If you have kids, they’ll be begging you to make them for all their toys, too, and then throw a big party with them. Or maybe that’s just my kids…
To turn these mini party hats into mini party hat headbands, I cut an elastic headband that I already had (you can use regular elastic too). Then I glued each end to the inside of the party hat on either side with hot glue.
Cute, right? I’d love to make an entire set of these mini party hats headbands and give them to party guests!
I’ve got another project idea I’ll be sharing soon with you using these hats, so stay tuned. What colors would you use to make these cute mini party hats?
