Today I’ve got some super cute pencil valentines to share with you, perfect to make with the kids to give out to their friends on Valentine’s Day!
These pencils aren’t made out of wood, but from a plastic candy tube and yellow gumballs made to look like a pencil. Add a pink and gold eraser top and a paper lead bottom, and you’ve got sweet pencil valentines that any friend will love!
I’m co-hosting Craft Lightning this week along with Angie from The Country Chic Cottage and Carolina from 30 Minute Crafts.
I’ll be sharing lots of quick and easy Valentine’s Day crafts this week that can be made in 15 minutes or less. Be sure to check back daily for a new Valentine’s Day craft project!
PENCIL VALENTINES
Supplies: (may contain affiliate links)
- Clear Gumball Tubes
- Yellow gumballs
- Pink
and Gold washi tape
- White card stock
- Black Sharpie
- Glue gun
- Twine or string
- Free printable valentines tags
Step 1. Fill each candy tube with yellow gumballs. Wrap the pink washi tape around the very top of the candy tube so it looks like an eraser.
Step 2. Cut a gold strip of washi tape in half lengthwise. Place the gold tape on the bottom of the pink washi tape to mimic the metal bottom portion of a pencil eraser.
Step 3. * This step is optional, but I think it makes the pencil look even cuter and more realistic. Cut out a small rectangular piece of white card stock. Roll it up to look like a pencil tip. Hot glue along the edge to attach the sides together.
Use scissors to cut the top and make it even, then use the glue gun to attach it to the bottom of the candy pencil. Use a black Sharpie to draw “lead” to the bottom of the paper pencil end.
Step 4. Print and cut the free printable tags, then punch a hole in the top. Add twine or string to the tag, then tie to the top of the pencil.

Now comes the fun party- giving it away! My kids are already calling dibs on the pencils I’ve made so far. I just love how they turned out!
They’re a great Valentine’s Day craft to do with your kids too, since they’re pretty easy to put together and can be made quickly.
