Can you believe we’re quickly approaching the holidays already? I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t already have my Christmas tree up, decorations out, and Christmas music playing non-stop.
I’ve got an amazing rustic holiday party to share with you today, plus my absolute new favorite recipe that is border-line genius because it tastes SO delicious but takes less than 10 minutes of hands-on time!
Rustic Holiday Party Decorations and Food
For my holiday party this year I wanted it to have a rustic, natural feel so I included rustic elements that include deer, greenery, red buffalo check fabric, wood slice platters and a giant wood slice, pinecones, bottle brush trees, and more. These gave the party the perfect look that I was going for!
Above the table I hung a white deer head wall mount with a wreath around it. I love the clean, natural feel it has.
Two small trees were placed on each end of the table over the top of a red buffalo check runner I made by folding a long piece of fabric in half and draping it across the table.
In the middle of the table I placed a REALLY large, thick wood slice that my husband’s uncle, who is a wood turner, gave to me. It’s about the size of a small table top. I stacked three wood slice platters on top of it.
The back wood slice held pumpkin streussel muffins that were so crumbly, soft, and delicious!
Apple Pie Baked Inside an Apple
The last wood slice holds my new favorite dessert that goes perfectly with the rustic holiday party theme. Mini apple pies that are actually baked inside real apples!
This is a wonderful holiday dessert hack I’m sharing with you because it is SO simple to do. I bought a Claim Jumper pie, along with Reddi-wip and the Swiss Miss hot cocoa.
Here’s how to make this tasty treat-
Apple Pie Baked Inside an Apple Recipe
Ingredients:
- Apples
- Dutch apple pie
- Reddi-wip topping
Step 1. Bake the Dutch apple pie following the directions on the back, except do NOT add the crumb topping and bake for the additional time after the topping is added. Instead, when it’s time to add the topping, just remove the pie from the oven but leave the oven on and change the temperature to 350 degrees.
Step 2. Cut a slice across the top of the apple to remove the top. Scoop out the inside of each apple using a melon baller or a spoon and hollow the apple out so that it makes a bowl.
Step 3. Use a spoon to scoop out the yummy apple filling (my favorite part!) from the pie and fill each apple “bowl.”
Step 4. Generously sprinkle the crumb topping over the apple pie filling, then place on a foil-covered baking sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and serve warm.
Just before serving, be sure to add a big dollop of Reddi-wip. It gives the perfect creamy, sweet flavor to the warm apple and apple pie.
This dessert truly is amazing and is perfect for pie-filling lovers like me. The apple bowl is perfectly edible since the core is scooped out, so I ate the whole thing (minus the very bottom) with a fork and knife.
You could also just use a spoon or fork and eat the apple pie portion, but that baked apple is waaayyyy too good to not eat! Isn’t this a cool apple pie hack? It is super simple and quick, since you’re not making the pie from scratch.
Chocolate chip cookies look right at home in a large buffalo check container sitting in front of a giant glass mason jar filled with pinecones.
I filled a smaller glass jar with peppermint candies, then added large red and white swirled peppermint sticks and lollipops.
Two large bottles of cranberry raspberry juice filled up the drink dispenser perfectly.
To add to the natural rustic holiday party theme I added a plaid wood deer to the front, then placed it on a large wood stump that was cut from one of our trees.
This was a great way to add height to the dispenser too so we could get our bottles under the spout easily!
We drank out of milk glass bottles with red glitter ribbon tied along the top.
I can’t tell you how excited I was to find these adorable tree stir sticks to go inside each one! They matched everything perfectly. They’re the tiniest, cutest bottle brushes I’ve ever seen!
If you love the look of this party, then consider throwing your own rustic holiday party! Just promise me if you do you’ll serve these apple pies baked in an apple. 😉
Happy holidays!
