If you love grilled veggies and meat, you’re going to love this easy smoked sausage kabobs recipe I’m sharing with you today!
Smoked sausage kabobs are a delicious, fresh meal that can be put together quickly. Most of the prep can be done ahead of time, which is a definite plus for us hard-working moms!
My favorite meal growing up was shishkabobs. I would volunteer to make dinner and would cut all the food myself, assemble, and would grill them to perfection. My parents loved that I was taking care of dinner for them, and I loved that I got to eat my favorite meal! It was definitely a win-win.
Between running my website, taking kids to and from school, drama practice, sports, church activities, and everything else, some days there just isn’t much time for dinner. This recipe is great for those busy nights though because it’s a quick and easy meal solution that takes less than 3o minutes to prepare.
Smoked Sausage Kabobs
Ingredients:
- Hillshire Farm Sausage
- Bell peppers
- Red onion
- Fresh pineapple
- Wood skewer sticks
Directions:
Step 1. Cut the Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage into pieces about 2-3″ long.
For this recipe, I went to Ralph’s, my local Kroger store, to pick up all of the ingredients. Between 3/30-4/19/16 you can pick up 2 Hillshire Farm sausages for only $5 while supplies last., which is an amazing deal!
My family all LOVE these sausages and I have been using them to make healthy and quick meals for my family for years now. Now is a great time to stock up with this awesome deal!
Step 2. Cut the bell peppers, red onion, and fresh pineapple into large chunks. I like to place each separate ingredient in a different bowl because it makes the next step easier.
Step 3. If you will be using an outdoor grill, you’ll need to soak your wood skewer sticks in water for about 30 minutes or according the directions on your package. I usually place some water on a baking sheet with sides, then place the skewer sticks in it to soak.
If you are using an electric grill or grill pan, you don’t need to soak the sticks before using them.
Step 4. Add the smoked sausage and veggies onto the sticks by pushing them through the sharp end of the stick, then pushing them down to the bottom of the stick. Make sure to mix up the combinations so you get a variety of veggies on your kabobs.
Step 5. Grill the smoked sausage kabobs on an outdoor grill, an indoor electric grill, or a grill pan. Cooking time will vary depending on the method you use, so grill them to your desired doneness.
I had planned on doing some outdoor grilling, but the San Diego weather wasn’t cooperating when we had a large rainstorm all weekend. I had no choice but to cook them inside in our grill pan, and they still turned out perfectly delicious!
Whip up a pot of couscous or white rice, add a salad or some fresh fruit, and you’ve got a delicious meal ready for your family in no time!
This was such a yummy meal! My kids even wanted to help prep the kabobs for dinner, which is a pretty rare thing.
