If you love making s’mores, and you love eating ice cream, then today’s s’mores ice cream recipe is definitely for you!
It’s a combination of two of the best summer treats, and is ridiculously easy to make at home. On a hot summer day, this s’mores ice cream will definitely hit the spot and satisfy that sweet tooth!
I started with a basic vanilla ice cream recipe that doesn’t contain raw eggs and does not need to be cooked first… can I get a hallelujah? Then I added all the delicious s’mores ingredients at the very end- chopped up chocolate bars, chunks of graham crackers, and mini marshmallows…. mmmmm.
S’mores Ice Cream Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups half and half
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 6 whole graham crackers
- 4 regular size Hershey milk chocolate bars
- 1/2 cup marshmallows
Directions:
Make sure that the liquid ingredients are chilled in the fridge, and that your bowl is frozen if you are using an electric ice cream maker.
Mix the sugar into the half and half with a wire whisk in a medium bowl, and then mix in the heavy cream and vanilla. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker bowl, and make the ice cream according to the manufacturer’s directions for your specific machine.
Chop up the chocolate bars into small squares, crumble the graham crackers into large chunks, and measure out the marshmallows.
Once the vanilla ice cream is made (which only took 25 minutes for my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker), remove the ice cream, and pour into an airtight plastic container. Stir in evenly the chocolate chunks, the graham crackers, and the marshmallows. Put the lid on the plastic airtight container, and place in the freezer for approximately 2 hours.
While you can eat the ice cream straight out of the ice cream maker, I find that the consistency is softer than that of ice cream (it doesn’t contain all those preservatives and things to make it more solid). After putting it in the freezer for two hours, however, the texture is perfect, and is easy to scoop and eat.
Everyone in my family gave my recipe two thumbs up, including this little guy!
And his big sister!
They love eating their ice cream, and are so darn cute eating it, but these two can make such a mess! No worries, though, because when I bought the ice cream ingredients at Wal-Mart (they have the lowest prices), I also stocked up on Wet-Nap products to keep those messes at a minimum.
Wet-Nap products are usually found in the napkin aisle, but you might also find them in the aisle that contains baby wipes, face wipes, etc., which is where they were in my local Wal-Mart store.
We love Wet-Nap wipes because they are softer and stronger than before, and they moisturize with aloe to keep skin soft and fresh. I like the Wet-Nap Pop-Up, because it’s easy to put in the dashboard of my car and pull out when messes are made, which is quite often with four kids!
And here he is, all cleaned up, and back to his adorable little self!
And don’t forget to try this s’mores ice cream recipe… you won’t be disappointed!!
Happy mess making!
