Happy Monday! Today I’m thrilled to be part of the Sizzix Blog Hop featuring Marisa Pawelko’s new Modern Surrealist line of Sizzix dies and the new adorable Sophisticut die cut machine!
Marisa’s new line is bold, fun, hip, and even a bit retro. I decided to mix it up and create some fun superhero party ideas using the POW die! I’ll be showing you three cool ways to use this one die for great party decor.
If you don’t have any Superhero party plans, keep reading! You can still use these ideas, but substitute any of the other fun dies from this collection to get custom party decor for the food table.
Superhero Party Ideas:
For each of the three party ideas below, you’ll need a Sizzix Big Shot or Sophisticut (or any other Sizzix roller die machine), the POW die, and some colored paper in bold colors. I used the darling new purse-shaped SophistiCut, and can’t get over how cute it is!
It looks just like a purse, until you press on both sides and out pop the trays that you run the dies through, just like the Big Shot! It comes with two cutting pads that fit perfectly inside the SophistiCut.
To make the POW, you need to make a stack with the clear cutting pad on the bottom, the POW die on top of that face up, colored paper on top of that (cut to the size of the die), and the other cutting pad on the top. Simply turn the handle on the machine, and the die will roll through the middle of the purse and out the other side, creating two shapes and the POW!
Mix and match the background shape colors and the POW colors, and then glue the letters onto the shapes. Follow the directions below to make each superhero party idea…
#1 Cupcake Toppers:
It’s so easy to impress your friends and family and make custom cupcake toppers!
Just use glue or tape to attach the POW to the top of a toothpick, sucker stick, or wood stick, and insert into a cupcake.
For extra color and fun, place the cupcake into a coordinating cupcake wrapper or holder. Instant cuteness!
#2 Water Bottle Wraps
Why go boring when you can go bold?
Tear the paper label off of a plastic water bottle, and use the paper as a guide to cut a piece of colored paper the same width and a little bit longer.
Wrap the colored paper around the water bottle and glue it on, and then glue the POW onto the front. So easy, and yet it can make such an impact and add more fun to a party!
#3 Candy Cups
I upgraded these cute little paper cupcake holders by just gluing the POW onto the top front and turning them into punchy candy cups!
Fill with bright-colored candy, and serve to your favorite superheros for instant smiles!
I hope you enjoyed these superhero party ideas with the new Modern Surrealist line by Marisa Pawelko! There are so many fun dies in this collection that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Stay tuned for more fun projects featuring these dies!
