You probably know by now that I love making little treat boxes. There’s just something about a cute little box filled with sweets that makes my heart go pitter patter. Can you relate?
Today I’m sharing a sweet candy box DIY with you that I created with the new Sizzix Mini Pizza Box Die, designed by Jen Long for Where Women Cook. This die is seriously cute!!
The box was very easy to put together in just a few minutes, and it is perfect for giving away sweet treats for Valentine’s Day or for any occasion! Just switch up the cardstock and embellishments for whatever holiday or party colors you need, and you’re in business!
Candy Box DIY:
Supplies:
- Sizzix Big Shot
- Sizzix Mini Pizzas Box Die
- Sizzix Distressed Doily Die
- Sizzix 3-D Flowers Die
- Extended Cutting Pads
- Pattern paper
- Adhesive
- Embellishments
- Candy or small treats
Start by making your “Sizzix sandwich”- an extended cutting pad, paper, the mini pizza box die face down, and then the other extended cutting pad on top. Roll it all through the Big Shot die cutting machine.
Assemble the box by folding on the score lines of the paper and using glue to adhere the box together.
Use the same Sizzix sandwich and Big Shot machine to die cut a doily using the distressed doily die, and a small flower using the 3-D flowers die. Starting from the outside of the flower, roll the paper around a wood skewer stick until you reach the middle. Arrange the flower how you would like it, then add some glue to the center of the flower and press down gently to adhere.
Adhere the doily to the left hand side of the box, then add the 3-D flower and any other embellishments that you would like. I cut some word strips and designs out of some patterned paper and added them to my box.
Add some small candy or treats to the inside of the box.
Now comes the fun part- giving it away! I love seeing people’s reactions when I give them small treats like this.
They seem to really appreciate the time and effort that went into making them something sweet, and often they think it’s harder to make than it really is… Shhhh, I won’t tell them how easy it is if you won’t… 😉
Happy crafting! Hope your Valentine’s Day is wonderful, and that you get spoiled like you deserve!
