I’ve been wanting to do another tropical themed party since the Moana birthday party I created last year. I’m thrilled to be sharing a darling tropical baby shower with you today featuring Cricut and the Martha Stewart Celebrations line from Michaels!
This tropical party is my second collaboration in a year-long series with Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels… eek! You can check out the first party HERE, a bright and cheery mint and yellow party that’s perfect for those spring and summer celebrations.
As you might have heard, Martha Stewart has a brand new Celebrations party line in 10 different themes, sold exclusively at Michaels. I styled this tropical baby shower around the gold theme.
If you love a pretty metallic gold, you’ll love these supplies! You can stick with the classic gold and white colors, or add more colors to your party like I did.
Each party theme is unique and has its’ own decorations and supplies like garlands, paper goods, runners, trays, straws, bags, balloons, and more!
Tropical Baby Shower Party
Green tropical leaves are a must when throwing a tropical party, so I cut some leaves from various tropical plants in our yard (which grow plentifully here in SoCal).
Don’t they look pretty in the gorgeous DIY gold leaf vase I made for Michaels’ new wedding site? They match the party perfectly!
I cut lots of green paper tropical leaves with my Cricut Explore Air 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Bundle that is also exclusive to Michaels. The Martha machine can cut and write up to 2x faster than previous Cricut Explore models… yay!
It cuts over 100 materials that include cardstock, glitter paper, iron on, vinyl, cork, bonded fabric, and more! The Martha machine also comes with 25 exclusive Martha Stewart projects and a gorgeous Basic Tool Set with gold accents. I feeling fancy crafting with my gold Cricut tools! 😉
Down the middle of the table ran a long gold and white table runner from the Martha gold party collection. I cut large green leaves and used them as place mats under the layered gold and white plates, also from the Martha collection. The leaf shape is one of the designs that comes free when you buy the Martha machine.
I’m sharing the cut file for the leaf place mats if you’d like to make some of your own. I just love the shape of the plates, don’t you?
To add some extra color to the plates, I added a coordinating triangle garland piece turned upside down over the top plate.
See how the gold shapes on it match the cute napkins, plates, cups, table runner, and favor bags? These are all from the Martha line so they work perfectly together!
On top of each garland triangle went a smaller tropical leaf. I’m sharing the leaf cut file HERE.
Colorful tropical sugar cookies that I made went on top of each leaf, just waiting to be eaten by each party guest. I’m SO happy with how my cookies turned out!
I made pink and yellow hibiscus cookies, pineapples, flamingos, and big green tropical leaf sugar cookies, all in matching colors that coordinated with my party.
Every party needs party favors of course, so I made some sweet favor bags filled with strawberry and banana salt water taffy. The bags are from the gold collection, and so are the matching tags!
I cut some little pink flamingos with my Martha machine (they were cut from the favor boxes shown below), and glued one on each tag to match the cookies and the whole tropical baby shower.
Party guests also receive a cute pink scallop favor box filled with treats. The box is also one of the free Martha projects that come with the Martha machine, but I customized the box even further to coordinate with our tropical baby shower. You can get the cut file HERE.
A bold green tropical leaf, colorful scallop circles, and a light pink flamingo add the perfect touch to each box.
Want even more tropical goodness at your tropical party table? The gold pineapples add a modern, sophisticated look to our tropical baby shower.
To make the gold pineapples, I simply placed a plastic produce bag over the top of each fruit, then spray painted in metallic gold over the bottom portion of each pineapple. It only took one coat of paint for these pineapple to shine!
A tropical party is the perfect way to celebrate a baby shower, a bridal shower, a birthday, a graduation, or just to hang out with girl friends and enjoy each others’ company. I don’t know about you, but I’ll use practically any excuse to throw a fabulous party!
