Valentine Cupcake Liner Garland + Free Printable

I have the cutest red and white polka dot cupcake liners that were left over from The Very Hungry Caterpillar Baby Shower I threw for my friend a few months ago, and I thought they would look be perfect to use as some kind of a Valentine’s decoration.

Valentine's Cupcake Liner Garland

So I came up with this fun garland that is made out of simply cupcake liners, a free printable that I made, some glitter paper left over from this Valentine’s Paper Wreath (optional), some twine, and a glue gun.

This garland was SO easy and quick, you could whip one up in no time!  It looks so cute hanging on my mantle too!

Supplies:
  • Cupcake liners (I used regular size liners ans some white smaller liners)
  • Free printable sayings
  • Twine (or jute, ribbon, string, etc.)
  • Glue gun
  • 2″ circle punch (or circular object to trace)
  • Glitter paper (optional)
  • Letter stickers (optional)
Step #1
Take a cupcake liner and flatten it out as much as you can so that it makes a circle.  Repeat with a second cupcake liner in matching colors.  Trim the second cupcake liner with scissors so that it is still a circle, but smaller.  On some of the circles I also used some smaller white liners, and some I used circles that I cut out of the glitter paper.  Glue the little circle(s) to the big circle.

Step #2
Print the free printable sayings, and cut using the 2″ circle punch, or a circular object that is around 2″ in diameter.  Then glue down the sayings to the middle of the cupcake circles.  On some I also used some scrapbook letter stickers from my stash.

Step #3

Cut the twine to the size that you would like it, and line up the cupcake liner circles next to the twine the way that you would like them.  Place cupcake circle face down, the add a blob of hot glue to the top third center of the circle.  I first glued in the middle, but the garland did not hang well, so it is better to glue about a third of the way up!

Lay the twine on top of the glue, and carefully place a smaller cupcake liner (or piece of paper) on top of the glue to stick it all together and cover up the twine.

Repeat this until the garland is complete, using as many circles as you need to fill up the length of your twine.

Told you it was quick and easy!!  I hung mine on our fireplace mantel…

Hope you give this sweet little garland a try!  You can also give these XO Glitter Letters a try, too!

Happy Crafting!!

Oh this is so cute!! Using cupcake liners was a genius idea – I love it!! I might have to go pick some up to make one. I want to put a cute little garland in our master bedroom.
