Learn how to store Christmas ornaments for FREE with these brilliant Christmas ornament storage hacks using recycled products!
I love buying new Christmas ornaments every year.
Pretty sure I have enough ornaments to cover at least five trees!
How to Store Christmas Ornaments
Most of us have many Christmas ornaments that we use from year to year.
It can be hard to know the best way to store Christmas ornaments, especially since many of them are valuable because of the memories associated with them.
We want to keep those ornaments safe, and prevent our precious ornaments from cracking or breaking.
Homemade ornaments, like our cinnamon applesauce ornaments, are extra special and can be delicate.
Best Way to Store Christmas Ornaments
Today I’m sharing some of my favorite easy and free Christmas ornament storage ideas.
These hacks have worked well for me and my family, and I hope that you find them helpful!
#1 – Plastic Apple Containers
We buy our apples from Costco, and with five kids, we eat a lot of apples!
I almost threw out a plastic apple container one day, but quickly realized that it would make the perfect ornament storage container for some of my many Christmas ornaments!
The container was designed to keep apples safe from getting bumped and bruised.
Each hole was round, while the container sealed nice and tight with a lid.
In other words, it seemed perfect!
I was so excited to try it out!
When I placed the round ornament balls into the plastic apple container, they fit perfectly.
The best part is that these containers were FREE!!
These plastic apple containers would have gone into the trash, but now they have a brand new life as clever Christmas ornament storage!
Bonus- the apple packaging took up a LOT less space than the original three boxes that the 12 ornaments came in, which were four ornaments per box.
It’s a win-win!
#2 Egg Cartons with Lids
While I was putting the apples in the fridge, I saw an egg carton filled with eggs, which got me thinking again…
Each hole was made to nestle and cradle eggs that can crack very easily.
Egg cartons, like the apple containers, also come with lids that close tightly.
They seemed to be a perfect fit, so I anxiously removed the eggs from the carton.
I pulled out my smaller ball ornaments, and sure enough, they were a perfect fit!
Each little round ornament was nestled safely inside each hole in the egg carton.
Egg containers also stack so nicely on top of each other.
You can store many ornaments in one big plastic container filled with egg cartons.
That makes the ornaments extra easy to pull out at our tree trimming party, then put away after Christmas is over.
Feel free to wrap each ornament inside of the carton, which will provide an extra layer of safety.
Hopefully this helps you know how to store Christmas ornaments, without spending much (if any) money.
This Christmas ornament storage hack is a great way to save money, save the earth, and save your ornaments from getting broken!
