My son just can’t get enough of dinosaurs, so of course I threw him a dinosaur party for his birthday.  This dinosaur dig party is one of my all-time favorites and has a lot of fun dinosaur party ideas I can’t wait to share with you!

Must see dinosaur party with tons of dinosaur party ideas!

From a dinosaur dig to DIY dinosaur fossils and dinosaur eggs you can open for  fun surprise to dinosaur droppings cookies to a dinosaur fossil cake, this party is a ROAR-ing good time for any dino-loving kid!

Dinosaur Party Table

I set up three big tables for the party- the main party table with all of the food, the eating table where I had a dinosaur place setting for each child, and the dinosaur dig table.

Food Table

I wanted the dinosaur party to be green and khaki colored and feel like a jungle with a natural element.  The food table was set up underneath a hut with palm trees and big tropical leaves behind it, which was just the look I was going for.

Dinosaur party with dinosaur cookies, dinosaur cake, lots of dinosaur decorations, and more!

A large garland above the table was easily made with my Cricut Explore Air 2 and some large tropical palm leaves.  I’m in love with how the banner turned out, especially with the cool dinosaur skull at the front!

Covering the table with some burlap and adding tropical leaves and large palm leaves, small logs, and large rocks all made the table feel natural, like it were set out in the middle of the jungle when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Amazing dinosaur party and dinosaur dig with lots of incredible dino details!

At the center of the table towered a large hungry t-rex and his dino dig treat stand, guarding dinosaur cones filled with tasty dinosaur snack mix.  Get the dinosaur snack mix recipe.

I stacked the snacks on a big wood crate with dino dig streamer wrapped around it.  Love that orange pop of color!

At the base of the crate was the cake.  I made a tasty homemade chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, then added OREO “dirt” and some chocolate dinosaur fossils.  You can catch the whole dinosaur dig cake recipe and tutorial here.

Bright red lava punch was guarded by these two carnivores, who decided to help themselves to some of the chocolate dinosaur bones I made!

Dinosaur party table and party ideas

Easy dinosaur fossil cookies

Dinosaur fossil cookies were LOVED by the kiddos.  One little boy at the party told me he was going to eat every single cookie on that plate- and he practically did, ha!

I used store-bought sugar cookies, baked them, then pressed small plastic dinosaurs into the warm cookies to make dinosaur footprints.  A little cinnamon sprinkled on top makes them look a bit dirty, which is perfect for dinosaur fossil cookies!

DIY dinosaur eggs with surprise inside at dinosaur party

Behind the dinosaur fossil cookies lies a dinosaur nest, which is the DIY nest I made to house our beautiful gold leaf Easter eggs in the spring.

Inside the nest are some incredible dinosaur eggs I made with a surprise inside!  Each child was given a dinosaur egg to break open.  Inside each egg was a toy dinosaur they got to keep.  The kids LOVED these so much!

They were SO simple to make too.

Dinosaur party ideas for a ROARing dinosaur party

On the other side of the table I stacked another wood crate to match the other side, then added more tropical leaves.  A metal lantern on top looks like it could have been used by paleontologists, while two dinosaurs are on the prowl for more party food.

Each of the boys were given a pith hat so they looked official for the dinosaur dig hunt.

Dinosaur droppings cookies from chocolate no bake cookies

Dinosaur poop cookies might sound horrible, but trust me, they’re delicious!

Even these carnivores will break their meat-eating habits for a few chocolate no bake cookies.  They are made with cocoa, peanut butter, and a few more ingredients, and can be made from start to finish in under 20 minutes with NO BAKING!

Chocolate no bake cookies are actually one of my most popular posts too, so they’re definitely worth making!

Eating Table

Once the kids got their food, they went and sat at their dino table, all decked out with dinosaur everything.

Stand-up dinosaurs roamed down the center of the table, hungry for their next meal.

Dino dig plates and white plastic plates were layered on top of dinosaur and tropical leaf “place mats .”

DIY dinosaur cups with Cricut Explore Air 2 for dinosaur party

I used the same vinyl dinosaurs I made with my Cricut Explore Air 2 for the dinosaur egg treat bags and placed one on each cup.  I love how cool the cups look now and how well they match the theme!

I made some cute dinosaur dig kits for the kids for the big dino dig activity.

Dinosaur Party Activities

The main party activity was the DIY dinosaur dig I put together for the kids.  This was hands down their favorite part of the party!

Thank you for all the links and pictures. Where did you get the table clothes at?

You’re very welcome Jenny! I actually just bought bulk burlap at Joann and used it as tablecloths. It’s cheap, easy, and you can use a 40% or 50% off coupon too. 😉
