DIY Halloween Charades Game

I just love this time of year… cooler and darker nights, warm cozy sweaters, and the smell of fall in the air… ahhh.  With Halloween just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to create a Halloween Charades Game, perfect for a night in with the family, a kids’ class party at school, or even a big Halloween party with friends!

The directions are simple, and in no time you too can have a fun Halloween charades game, ready for your next get together!  This fun game cost me literally NOTHING to make, and is nothing but fun to play!  I came up with 40 different charades clues, and you can always add your own to this list, too!

Halloween Charades Game

Supplies:

  • Wood craft sticks (I used the jumbo ones)
  • Black pen or marker
  • Container or can (to store game in)
  • Washi tape (optional)
  • Halloween paper (optional)
Directions:
1.  Write each of the clues below on the sticks, one per stick.  If you’d like, you can decorate one end of the stick.  I added some Halloween washi tape to each stick just for fun!
Here are the clues that I came up with- feel free to add your own, too!
  • Ichabod Crane
  • Skeleton
  • Black cat
  • Bat
  • Full moon
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • Trick or treat
  • Smell my feet
  • Pumpkin
  • Midnight
  • Spider
  • Pumpkin
  • Owl
  • Jack-o-lantern
  • Spell
  • Zombie
  • Vampire
  • Monster Mash
  • Cauldron
  • Spider web
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • The Great Pumpkin
  • Headless Horseman
  • Black widow
  • Costume
  • Mask
  • Broom
  • Frankenstein
  • Candy
  • Haunted house
  • Ghost
  • Gravestone
  • Witch
  • Boo
  • Caramel apple
2.  You can decorate your container or can that will hold your sticks.  I used a Ghiradelli cocoa container, and decorated the outside with a piece of Halloween scrapbook paper that I had on hand, along with some more of my Halloween washi tape.

Easy, right?!  Now just get your friends and/or family together for a spooky good time! Split into two groups, take turns with one person acting out each clue for their team, and see which team can get the most points!  I tried to keep the clues simple enough for kids to play, but fun enough for adults, too.  Feel free to add in scarier Halloween references if this game is just for adults!
Hope you enjoy this fun game!

For more fall fun, you can print off my fall activities bucket list punch card.
