Every Halloween I look forward to getting cozy and watching a handful of Halloween movies. The Nightmare Before Christmas is at the top of my list, and is the inspiration behind our Nightmare Before Christmas party I’m sharing with you today!
What’s there not to love about Jack, Sally, Zero, and Oogie Boogie? I knew that Tim Burton’s classic movie would make the perfect Halloween party theme. Get comfy and get ready for some fun with this spooky Nightmare Before Christmas party!
My friends at Oriental Trading sent me lots of incredible Halloween supplies and Nightmare Before Christmas decorations for our party that were just perfect!
Nightmare Before Christmas Decorations
I knew that I needed to create one of the opening scenes in the movie for my Nightmare Before Christmas party decorations, when the spooky pumpkins plop themselves down onto the spiky tops of the cemetery fence.
I transformed some foam orange pumpkins into these grinning pumpkins, then added the to the tops of a cemetery gate.
You can see how I did it and get the whole tutorial HERE. Arent’ they cool?! They definitely set the whole scene for our Nightmare Before Christmas theme party.
I created a Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween banner in Cricut’s Design Space and printed it out and hung it above and on the fence.
Nightmare Before Christmas Party Food
I’m sure you noticed Oogie Boogie, the villain in Nightmare Before Christmas. At the end of the movie he rips apart and lots of bugs come crawling out.
I wanted to recreate the scene with some VERY realistic bugs I found at Oriental Trading. I share exactly how I made Oogie Boogie from some burlap and embroidery floss and the specific gummy bugs and worms I used in my Oogie Boogie bug platter post.
The gummy bugs also made great cupcake toppers!
I used store-bought cupcakes to save time and had them frosted in the bright green color that Oogie Boogie is through part of the movie.
I made some darling little Nightmare Before Christmas party decorations out of mini white favor pails, some black vinyl, my Cricut machine, and a few more supplies.
Each pail has a Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington on the front and a skull on the handle over some tied black and white striped ribbon.
I filled each pail with two black and white lollipops and some candy corn, candy pumpkins, and black foil-wrapped caramels.
Cute jack-o-lantern glass milk bottles were filled with milk and a black and white striped straw. I added some Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkins that I made from vinyl onto the front of each bottle.
I love how the black and white of the milk and vinyl match the black and white Nightmare Before Christmas party theme throughout the party!
I had the idea of turning navel oranges into pumpkins. They’re just the perfect color and shape!
I used my Cricut machine to cut some black vinyl jack-o-lantern faces and stuck them onto some oranges. So easy! It’s also a great way to add some healthy options to a Halloween party.
The jack-o-lantern oranges also add a nice pop of color to the table and mimic the foam pumpkins I stuck onto the cemetery fence.
This party was soooo much fun to put together. Thank you for letting me share my Nightmare Before Christmas party ideas with you!
