Make a darling candy corn turkey for Thanksgiving with this fun tutorial for both adults and kids!
Fall is in the crisp air, boots and sweaters are my outfits of choice, and two of my favorite holiday are just around the corner.
I just love this time of year.
I created some adorable little candy corn turkeys as a tasty treat for Thanksgiving.
If you have kids, make a turkey handprint from your child’s hand, then print out our free poem to go with it!
Whether you’re an adult or a kid, you’ll love these little gobblers!
A candy corn turkey is an easy and quick Thanksgiving snack that tastes great, just like our turkey cheese ball!
As much as I love making cake pops, sometimes I don’t want to go through the hassle of making them.
Fun, but very time consuming.
I made these little Thanksgiving candy treats from mini Snickers bars left over from Halloween.
Nice and easy!
I’m NOT a huge candy corn fan (love the way they look, but not the taste), so I used colorful Starburst candy corn instead.
I like that they come in different colors, which I think looked great for the turkey feathers.
They are very very sweet, but still taste better (in my opinion) than the regular candy corn.
Of course, you can use any kind that you like!
Candy Corn Turkey
Here’s how to make the cutest little candy turkeys on the block.
Helpful Tip: After some trial and error, I used cut off pieces of toothpicks to attach the candy corns to the turkey.
I made these for my kids, and then supervised them while they ate.
If you don’t feel comfortable using toothpick pieces, then add frosting to the tip of each candy corn to act as “glue.”
Candy Corn Turkey Supplies
- Mini Snickers bars
- Candy corn (I used Starburst candy corn)
- Candy eyes (or black and white frosting to make your own)
- Small amount of frosting (to use as the glue- I used a tiny tube of gel frosting I had on hand)
- Toothpicks
- Sucker sticks (optional)
Prep the Candy Corns
Making the Turkey Face
If you make them ahead of time, or give them away, then be sure to wrap a clear sucker bag around them.
That way the Snickers bar doesn’t get stale.
Snack on them while playing our fun Thanksgiving trivia or Thanksgiving charades (both with FREE printables).
Candy Corn Turkey
Equipment
- 12 sucker sticks (optional)
Ingredients
- Mini Snickers bars
- Candy corn (I used Starburst candy corn)
- Candy eyes
- Small amount of frosting
Instructions
- Break off the two end pieces of some toothpicks, and slowly push a toothpick piece into the end of a candy corn.
- Once you have toothpicks in all of your candy corn "feathers," insert the toothpick pieces into the Snickers turkey. I used 6 candies for each turkey. You can also use frosting to "glue" the candy corn tips to the back of the chocolate turkey so you won't have to use toothpick pieces.
- Attach the candy eyes to the turkey with frosting. Cut the small tip off a piece of candy corn. Use frosting to add it to the turkey face under the eyes to make the beak.
- Cut a thin slice off of the large end of a red Starburst candy corn, and attach using frosting to make the gobbler on the turkey. You can also use red frosting, an upside down red heart sprinkle, a cut piece of a red Airhead candy, fruit roll-up, or Laffy Taffy.
- Keep these turkeys as is, or press a stick into the bottom center of them to turn them into a tasty turkey pop.
