Summer is almost here, and I just can’t wait for my favorite season!
To celebrate the end of the school year, I threw a pool party for our family so we can beat the heat and have fun playing together.
Of course I couldn’t not decorate, so I created a fun beach ball garland DIY that I’m excited to share with you.
Wish I had this garland for my son’s shark birthday party!
Beach Ball Garland DIY
I love that this beach ball garland is colorful and fun, yet is so simple to make.
Once the balls are blown up, it will take about 2 minutes to make, which means more time playing and less time prepping!
Beach Ball Garland Supplies
- Beach balls
- Twine or string
Blow Up the Balls
First, you will need to blow up all the balls.
This part takes the longest, but it’s not too bad.
You can use a pump, an air compressor, or do it the old fashioned way by blowing them up manually with your mouth.
If you go old fashioned, be sure to get help from others or blow them up one at a time so you don’t get light headed!
I bought 9 beach balls, but only ended up using 7.
You can use 12″ beach balls, 20″ beach balls, or whatever other size you would like!
Measure how long the party space is where you would like the beach ball garland to go.
Next, figure out how big the balls are and how many balls you will need to fill that space.
How to Connect Beach Balls into Garland
Cut a long piece of twine or string as long as you would like your garland to be.
I always cut a bit longer than I need, just to be safe.
You also want to add extra space for tying the ends.
Place the twine through the loop of the plastic piece where you blow up the ball.
You can do this one of two ways.
First, you can press the twine through the loop of the plastic piece.
Alternatively, you can also undo the plastic part of the balloon, place the string inside, then put the little plastic piece back into the hole.
Keep stringing those beach balls until your beach ball garland is as long as you would like it.
That’s it!
Tie or tape the garland where you would like it, then you’re ready to party!
