As a mom to five kiddos, I’ve had to deal with every unpleasant smell in the book. I have a strong nose and little patience for bad scents, so I recently whipped up an all-natural fabric refresher spray to freshen up the couches, blankets, pillows, seasonal clothes, and even the air in our home.
What a difference!
This essential oil fabric refresher spray smells like lemons… so fresh and clean! Today I’m going to test it out on my son’s football bag, and I have little doubt that this incredible fabric refresher spray can tackle even the toughest of scents.
Did I mention how easy this recipe is? Seriously, if you have 5 minutes, you can whip up your own bottle too!

How to Make Fabric Refresher Spray
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp. distilled water
- 2 Tbsp. witch hazel
- 8 drops lemon essential oil
- 5 drops ho wood essential oil
- 1 drop Relief essential oil blend
- 2 oz spray bottle
Add all of the ingredients to the 2 oz. spray bottle.
I started with the 2 Tbsp. witch hazel, then added all the essential oils and swirled it around a few times.
Next I filled the rest of the bottle with distilled water. You definitely want to use distilled water because it doesn’t have impurities that tap water does and it will help your spray to last longer. Give it all a good shake to incorporate the oils with the other liquids.
When you want to use your fabric refresher spray, just shake and spray!
You can spritz this heavenly concoction on any fabric or into the air to freshen up your space.
Whenever I make homemade sprays, like my Christmas essential oil room sprays I made this past Christmas, I like to give them at least a good 3-4 days to marinate before using. I’ve noticed that if I start spraying them right after I make them, the scent isn’t very strong.
However, if I wait a few days or even a week, I am always very impressed with how powerful the smell is. It just take a few days for it all to blend together and become even better.
