Ghostbusters Party
From the green, black, and white party colors to a dripping slime tablecloth to ectoplasm party favors, Ghostbusters fans of all ages will love this fun Ghostbusters party.
This is a great Halloween party theme, but it is also perfect for a Ghostbusters birthday party for the ultimate Ghostbusters fan!
Today I’ll show you how I put this party together.
I’ll also teach you how to make the coolest, stretchiest green ectoplasm slime that makes perfect party favors!
Ghostbusters Party Ideas
Slime Tablecloth
To decorate the Ghostbusters party table, I started with some plain black fabric and used that as a tablecloth base.
I also bought a bright green fabric tablecloth, then drew dripping slime onto one of the long edges with a pen.
I used scissors to cut out the large drips, then placed it over the black for an instant dripping slime tablecloth!
This is my favorite of the Ghostbusters party ideas I came up with.
Ghostbusters Logo Sign
I knew the iconic Ghostbusters logo needed to be front and center with our Ghostbusters decorations, so I had a poster made with the logo at an office supply store.
The logo was then mounted on black foam board and placed in the middle of the table.

Balloons
Bright green, black, and white balloon bunches to match the party were placed on each side of the sign.
Balloons are a colorful, fun, and inexpensive way to fill up space at a party.
They were also one of the easiest Ghostbusters party decorations!
Proton Packs
It just wouldn’t be a Ghostbusters party without a proton pack, so I bought one for all the Ghostbusters.
You know, just in case we had any unwanted ghostly guests we needed to get rid of…
Ghost Toys
Two of our favorite ghosts were there too- the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Rowan, keeping guard over the sweet treats.
Both ghosts light up if you push on their red ties, so you know that the kids just couldn’t resist touching!
Ghostbusters Theme Party Food
Green Jell-O Slime
For a sweet treat, I filled small plastic containers with lids with lime Jell-O.
Then I did a quick Google search for the Ghostbusters logo, printed the logo, then cut and glued it onto the tops of each cute little container.
Aren’t they fun?
These Ghostbusters treats were so quick and easy to make and looked great!
I placed them all on white cake stands to display them on our Ghostbusters party table.
Ghostbusters Cupcakes
I ordered some bright green frosted cupcakes, then gave them a ghostly makeover to create some awesome Ghostbusters cupcakes!
I used my Sizzix Big Shot to cut ghosts in a few different sizes out of white card stock.
A Cricut machine would work great for this too.
The paper ghosts were placed into the frosting so they looked like they were flying out.
I love how simple these Ghostbusters cupcakes were to make and how cute they looked on the party table!
Green Punch
Of course we drank bright green apple juice in green cups from a big drink dispenser with the Ghostbusters logo on it.
Would you expect anything else? 😉
Ghostbusters Candy Jars
Three glass apothecary jars were filled with spooky sweets that matched the party colors.
Black and white gumballs, green apple jelly beans, and white chocolate balls filled up the jars.
Adding the printed Ghostbusters logo again to the jars was an easy way to reinforce the theme of the party!
Ghostbusters Party Favors
Gooey green ectoplasm is present in every Ghostbusters movie, so I knew I had to make some and give it to party guests.
If you’ve never made slime before, it’s very easy and fun to make, especially when its bright green!
Ecoplasm Slime Recipe
Slime supplies
- Water
- 1 Tbsp. borax
- 1 8 oz. container white glue
- Green food coloring
Mix the borax and water
Add 1 Tbsp. borax to 1 cup of water.
Stir until thoroughly combined, then set aside.
Add the glue and coloring
Pour all the glue from a white glue bottle into a cup or bowl.
Fill the empty glue container with water, then add to the glue.
Add the green food coloring (I used 14 drops of a neon green color), then stir until combined.
Mix it all up
Add 1 Tbsp. of the borax and water mixture to the glue mixture, then stir.
Keep stirring until the mixture starts getting thick and turns into slime.
You can add a small amount more of the borax mixture if there’s still liquid left, then keep stirring.
It was easiest to just get in there and use my hands to mix it up.
Definitely a little more messy, but a lot more fun!
Package the slime
The finished slime was placed in a plastic container with a lid, then the Ghostbusters logo was added to the top of each container.
These make the best favors for a Ghostbusters party!
I love that the slime was made from things I already had at home.
This Ghostbusters ectoplasm slime was definitely my kids’ favorite of all our Ghostbusters party ideas!
I hope you enjoyed our Ghostbusters party as much as we did!
