7 Reasons You Need a Cricut Maker in Your Life
#1 The Cricut Maker cuts fabric
Whether you’re a quilter or a sewing beginner (like me), this is a REALLY big deal.
While my Cricut Explore Air 2 machine can cut fabric, the fabric has to be first bonded to something else to make it heavier and thicker, like Heat N’ Bond or a similar product.
With the Cricut Maker, however, you simply place the fabric on the new pink mat by itself and boom. It’s ready to cut!
The Cricut Maker can cut all sorts of fabric too- everything from silk and organza to cotton and denim to felt and leather!
All of this is made possible by the new Cricut rotary blade, which glides and rolls across fabric smoothly and makes for perfectly accurate cuts.
#2 New digital sewing pattern library for Cricut Maker Machine
Now you can access hundreds of pre-made sewing patterns from Simplicity, Riley Blake, and more!
Just pick a project that you like and the Cricut Maker will cut it for you. Gone are the days of spending hours cutting patterns and fabric- let the Maker do all the hard work so you can do the part you love- sewing!
This is a great way to introduce children to sewing too. With hardly any prep work kids can learn to sew quickly and efficiently.
#3 The Cricut Maker can cut heavy material
Not into sewing? Don’t worry, there’s so many more things the Cricut Maker can do!
It can can cut heavier material than any Cricut machine ever before. Balsa wood, birch, mat board, poster board, cork, heavy leather, and more are no match for the Maker. With the new Knife Blade (coming very soon), you can cut thicker surfaces that are up to 3/32″ thick. This opens up a whole new world of crafting possibilities, doesn’t it?!
You can make everything from puzzles to wood models and more thanks to the Knife Blade. I’ve already got a running list of everything I’m going to make once this blade is available in the next couple months.
#4 The new Cricut machine is a beauty
Isnt’ she though? So this might seem like a silly one, but if I’m leaving a machine out on my desk at all times, I want it to look pretty.
The Cricut Maker is designed to look beautiful sitting out and doesn’t need to be put away. She is sleek, smooth, and has had a lot of thought put into her.
Cricut designers and engineers were so smart when creating the Cricut Maker!
They created a docking slot where you can place your phone or tablet while you’re working. They even added a USB charging port, which is just brilliant!
There is also storage for your tools and materials on the left hand side and back of the machine so you always have your necessities right where you need them.
#5 New updated Design Space with new features
Design Space, the place where you design and create projects for your Cricut machines, has some new cool features.
Now you can work offline on a project, so you can craft on an airplane, while waiting for kids in the pick up line, or when there’s no wi-fi available. Score!
Another cool feature is SnapMat. With SnapMat you can capture a photo of your material on the cutting mat so you know exactly where your image will be cut. Brilliant.
Not only does this help you put your image exactly where you want it, but it also helps you use up scraps of paper and fabric with less waste!
#6 50 Free ready to make projects come with the Cricket Maker machine
When you buy your Cricket Maker you have access to 50 free projects that are already designed and ready for you to make!
25 of the 50 are free sewing patterns, while the other 25 show off some of the other things that the Cricut Maker can do. You can’t beat free!
#7 More tools than ever and more on the way (including the rotary tool)
One of the really cool things about the Cricut Maker are all of the tools that are available to help you make and create in a variety of ways.
The Fine-Point Blade, the Deep-Point Blade, the Knife Blade, the Rotary Blade, the Fine-Point Pen, the Washable Fabric Pen, the Calligraphy Pen, and the Scoring Stylus are all amazing tools that are designed to allow you to craft in ways you never thought possible.
What’s really incredible is that the Cricut Maker grows with you. Cricut will be creating more and more tools to go with the Cricut Maker to expand your crafting possibilities, one tool at a time.
As you can see, I’m a huge fan of my new Cricut Maker. It’s a wonderful tool that will help you create with so many different materials in so many different ways.
I even made my son a Star Wars trick or treat bag with my Cricut Maker machine. He loved it!
